"Last supper" mentality
I don't have a surgery date yet, but I'm hoping to have it done Mid-December. My insurance doesn't require a pre-diet and other than a liquid diet a couple days pre-operatively, there are no diet requirements. So I'm finding myself wanting to eat things I won't be able to eat after surgery, and lots of it. It's like every meal is a last supper. Did any of you have that happen?

My recommendation is have fun but don't overdue it. We do need to start adopting the "it's only food" mentality.
Best of luck to you!
Hmmm...I had the completely opposite experience.....and i feel that that helped me cope with the new style of eating after the surgery. About 5 weeks before surgery, i started eating as if i had already had the surgery.....1st week was very very hard...2nd week i started to learn how to cope....and then it became the new normal. Have continued that after surgery.
Lost 10% of body wt before surgery (in the 5 weeks), and another 15% in the 10 weeks since the surgery.
All of us are different...and cope differently
Best of luck in your pursuit!
Thanks
History: When i came to US in Nov 1988...I weighed 281.
Yes i ate all my favorite things i would not be able to eat after but in moderation. Like beef fajitas for me No beef. You do not want to gain more weight be for surgery.. I ate one fajita then after that i only ate the meat and veggies not the tortilla. I tried to stick to a low carb diet prior to my surgery and did not gain weight. I did have cake but only 1/2 piece. Have your favorites but do it in moderation and eat slow and enjoy it. that is my best advise because after surgery you will only be able to eat small amounts and slowly so learn to eat slow and enjoy the flavor. I hope this helps you.
