How often do you take your PPI?

And how much, dosage-wise?

I'm taking 20mg of omeprazole first thing in the morning and I don't know if it's enough...  I wake up with a sour stomach every morning and today I had reflux after eating about 2oz of chicken salad...  I never had reflux/acid issues pre-op and knew going in that this may happen but I'm just looking for any tips on managing it now.

Thank you in advance!

I take 20 mg twice a day. However, I don't think 100 mg would ever controll my acid issues - ive been suffering since my VSG. It comes and goes, some days/weeks are better than others, but usually for most people - it's just a temporary issue while your body and stomach adjusts.

You can take steps to lessen it - make sure you eat/drink slow (this is probably why i suffer the most lol), avoid high acidic foods, dont eat too close to bed time, etc.

I also take 2 a day, one in the morning n one at bedtime. I had a lot of trouble with that after surgery but now this works perfect. Good luck.

I never had reflux before surgery nor after. For the first six weeks however my surgeon prescribed Nexium 40 mg first thing in the morning, one hour before eating anything. I took that for the six weeks then stopped. Still not a single bout of reflux so far. Hopefully it will stay like this.

I had very bad reflux pre op & lived on nexium or prevacid daily & sometimes twice daily. postop prevacid daily everyday. I had a surprise hiatal hernia repair & suffer much less now however not ready to give up my prevacid either.

You may need to eat slower!

That's a good tip... I think I could probably slow down a touch, haha! Thanks.
