I Need A Wake Up Call

I had VSG surgery in March of 2012. I lost 120 pounds in the first year. In february of 2014 I developed major foot problems. I was put in a boot and a strict no exercise regimen. On November 4th I had surgery to correct the 3 major foot issues I have. What I am looking for is positive reinforcement. No negative comments please. I'm also looking for people who have been through this and can give pointers to help me get back on track and get this weight off.

You can do it!  You know you can - you've already lost 120 pounds which is amazing and something to be super proud of.  It's just a matter, now, of getting back to your basics.  Here are my basics, yours might be a bit different:

1. Prioritize protein and water
2. Deprioritize carbs
3. Make the most of healthy fats
4. Eat three meals a day with no snacks
5. Avoid liquid calories (breakfast protein shake is the exception)
6. Weigh portions
7. Eat mindfully and with no distractions aside from real live people
8. Move as much as possible
9. Be kind to myself

Hi Gwen,

Wow. I was SO IMPRESSED with your reply that I just wanted to write to you.

Well, mine is kind of the same story, but a little different.

I have the sleeve one on May 10, 2014. I lost 112 pounds, but then I rather quit caring. MAJOR RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS~!  Seriously, I even had to go to counseling and am still IN counseling when I can afford it.

My self esteen went in the dumps.  He says ALL HIS problems are because of me and he moved out.

(He's been in two other relationships in one year and they left him~!  Interesting...)

Wow. That relationship cost me thousands. Dumb huh?

So, now it's time (I hope) to begin again, but honestly... I'm barely making it.

I don't "see" why it "matters" anymore.

I would just like a pen pal (or is that too old a term lol) so we can each boost each other up~!   I haven't gained anymore weight, but I still need to lose another 140 pounds but I litterally have "no" motivation.

Want to be friends?  I'm pretty good at motivating others; it's myself that I flunk at.

Let me know,

Mary Anne  -  yep, just like in Gilligan's Island :):):)

Abusive relationships can mess up anyone's head.  Good on you for pursuing counseling when you're able to!

Gwen, I can't thank you enough for posting those basics. I just copied them and emailed them to myself so that I'll remember them. :)

BellaLaw, you've come to the right place. We're here to support you through your goals. If you lost 120 pounds in a year, you are prodigious and YOU CAN DO IT. Break the problem down into manageable chunks and know that we are here for you.

I know mentally I need to go back to basics. Its actually doing it that's the hard part. I'm tempted to do only shakes for 5 days but I like my food. I need to kick my carbs...all of them until I can exercise. Then add them back in...the healthy ones. I just need to start and stay with it. I do good for breakfast and lunch but evening and bedtime are really bad.

Sadly, going back to all liquids at this point is really just a crash diet and not very useful.

Hi, I see your in GA

You should look up OH members Jimbovsg and Cozmo98

They are a just married VSG couple that live near Marietta and are active in the Support Group network and even hosted a "Meet and Greet" during the summer.

Jimbo is from California and we have the same surgeon and had surgery about the same time. I watched this guy lose 350lbs.

He got skinny.... got the girl and lives in GA now.

I see that moonglo82 has posted in the last couple days..... she is part of that group also.

.......Oh and Jimbo was laid up most this year with foot issues !

Check them out !
