My mom can cook...... but not Brussels Sprouts !

Bland and mussy.... Sorry moms!

So, they were always on my "don't like" list.

My surgeon and RD are high on Brussels Sprouts so I gave it some thought and came up with this.....

Cross cut them into about 1/4" coins, season and flip fry them on med/high heat.

Advantages are faster cook time, seasoning gets in there and some of the leafy parts that fall off crisp up real nice !

I sauteed a bag of baby brussel sprouts yesterday, in garlic herb butter and sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese. YUM!

Another reason to embrace the brussels sprout is because it is one hell of a pyloric valve closer! Too many brussels sprouts and I am one sick puppy! I had about 3 oz of marinated hanger steak a few weeks ago with a side of roasted brussels sprouts at Tender Greens. Sprouts were so good I probably ate a 1/3 cup and was so uncomfortable for hours afterwards. Oops!

I'll give it another try. Like you, the sprout is high on my do not like/do not try list. My 5 year old loves them but we don't make them at home because he would expect me to eat some and I just can't. Maybe I can tolerate them prepared as you have described. Wish me luck!

I haven't had them post op, but I used to love sautee-ing the shredded sprouts with diced salami.

I have brussel sprouts waiting for me when I get home tonight! I'll try this!

I love to toss them in some oil or bacon grease and roast in the oven.  A little bit of bacon is never a bad pairing with them....or parmesan cheese
