Harder than I thought but plugging along...

The mindless wanting to eat and the head hunger is harder than I anticipated but I'm working on it...looking forward to going back to work which will help...really miss being busy.

I'm 2 wks post op and been stuck at 286 since last week...which doesn't help the frustration...one day at a time.

Yes being busy will definitely help! Just remember to keep an eye on your fluids and protein too. Depending on your type of work,  It can get tricky to not forget.

The scale will move,  just keep plugging along like you said :-)

Yes, it is tough. Peruse the online retailers and look at all of the clothes that you'll be able to wear soon! Take a ride out and walk around a store. Get a nice box of crayons and a coloring book - silly, but coloring can be so therapeutic and keep your mind and hands busy! Bundle up and go for a walk! All of this will help keep your mind on other things. And coming on OH to vent is also a great way to deal with it! We can ALL understand! Hang in there!

I agree it is a difficult mental battle. I am one month out and everything I do I journal in an app myfittnesspal. It helps keeping me accountable and reading this forum everyday. Your body is still healing and in preserve mode. A lot of members on here say that the 2nd and 3rd week is a lot slower in weight loss. I slowed down in the same weeks too. Good luck and post on here anytime you get frustrated. It helps more than you know.

Hang in there, Shannon!  Getting back to work will help for sure.  I'm at my food-obsessive worst when I'm at loose ends with nothing to keep my head or hands busy.

Just post surgery before I went back to work (and couldn't really work out) was really hard for me.  During that time and the preop, I really realized how much advertising is ALL about FOOD!

Can you start an art project or something to help keep you occupied?  Boredom is horrible for my food addiction.

Oh -- also you could look up some healthy food blogs for some good ideas on new recipes.

I totally agree with the difficulty keeping your mind off food.  I am one month post op today.  Staying busy is the best remedy.  I now record all my shows on Direct TV so I can watch them without the commercials,  I zip through those.  Lol.  I figure we just have to do what is necessary to reach our destination.  I had my first stall at 2 weeks.  So hang in there.  Get your water and your protein in and the scale will eventually move again.  I had to put my scale away and only allow myself to weigh every couple of weeks because I was totally obsessing with it.  No use in going crazy when I am going to have a killer body in the next year are so!  If I am in a padded room then no one will see it.  LOL!

As I tell a coworker who was sleeved a few months after me, "head hunger is a *****"

Thanks everyone!  I've been lucky to not have any complications; have no issues eating or drinking, so sometimes my head feels like nothing has changed even though I (and my stomach)  know better...that makes it difficult...now my eyes are truly larger than my stomach lol

Having this site is my biggest tool next to my sleeve. Thank you!
