just got invited to come over here and check out the lw board.

it is weird for me to be called a lw but i guess i am one.

i am looking forward to finding out all the different ways people have dealt with the plateau/stalling issues, etc.

good luck to all.

Hi, can you give a little more information?  How far out are you?  What surgery did you have?  What are you eating every day?  Do you get in all your protein and water?
Without knowing your details I can only tell you that I rarely stalled for more then a few days, other then the dreaded "3 week stall" when I didn't lose weight for nearly 2 weeks starting when I was about 3 weeks out.  That seems to be a pretty common time to stall.  There are other times, too, like around 6 months, etc.
What really helped me all around was getting in at least 100 grams of protein and 100 oz of fluids every day.  I also completely stayed away from refined carbs like sugar and wheat products.  I started out avoiding them during my weight loss period because I wanted to make the most out of my "honeymoon" period and refined carbs add nothing nutritionally to my eating.  In the early days you need all your room for protein and there is little space left over for anything else.  I soon realized that I had a big problem with refined carbs and that my addiction to them was the reason I had failed every previous weight loss attempt, including my first WLS.  During the weight loss period refined carbs can slow down the weight loss.  During maintenance they can contribute to regain.

hi and thanks for your input.

i had sleeve surgery on august 8, 2011.

i have been stalled for 11 weeks.  i actually had to increase all my intake as doc/nutritionist/nurse all agreed i was not getting enough calories of any kind.

i do get all my fluids in, as well as my food now....they wanted me to add carbs, but good ones of course and i had been eating a few of those but mostly protein and vegies.

i eat up to 7 dime size bites of lean protein and finish with the vegies.

i have a long story, so i won't go into it.

just hoping that by doing the 5 day pouch test it will restart my loss.

i am up and down 80-85 lbs....back and forth.

thanks again.

Welcome to the LW board.

As a lightweight, I look more at the percentage of bodyweight lost, and not the actual pounds.  You should also be patient.  After 6 months or so, the weight loss is not consistent week to week, but you'll stay the same weight for several weeks, then drop some etc.

Tazz is right - just keep to the eating plan, minimize useless carbs, and get exercise - I'm a great proponent of adding some strength training to your exercise, as it helps to keep you metabolism high, with the side benefit of maintaining some muscle under all that extra skin.

thanks so much.  i exercise as much as i can but with all the health issues, it often stops me.

i have been doing pt from all my surgeries for 12 years now, and continue to do them along with some strength training and bands, walking, etc.

i have been, even with all the health issues all my life been very blessed to be at least muscular...so am happy about that...but for the first time in my life (age 49) everything, and i mean everything, has gone south.  : (

appreciate all the input and suggestions.

thanks again.

Welcome to the lightweights.

I never really stalled but slowed down about 5 months out.  Upping protein to over 100 and keeping carbs under 30 worked for me.  I eat 5 meals a day and 3 protein shakes.  That also helps keep the matabolism up.

thanks and congrats on reaching your goal, and anyone else that reads this, congrats also...

i sometimes don't say all i want to say but when i get multiple posts, it is hard to say everything over and over without forgetting some.

i usually eat 3-5 meals, with 2 snacks recommended by my nutritionist.

i am looking forward to the stall stopping, and getting on with this.

thanks again. and patience is a good thing here.  lol

Welcome! I would also like a little more info if you'd like to share, so I can learn from you. Since I am still post op, I have only one good piece of advice: Check in and post everyday, read peoples stories, take what they say good and bad and use it to your advantage, but don't forget to give something back, you get what you give. Even if its only a hello. It helps others to know there are people on this board being active, and it helps you. It's helped me everyday to be aware and most of all, l I feel I'm making new friends that are like me, and that helps me the most in my battle with food and weightloss! Hope you find what you are seeking!
