Happy Halfway Through the Week !

I'm in my current "sweet spot", I've paid my income tax, and traffic is back to normal after the departure of the presidential candidates who descended upon us Monday. Life is good.

Some of my disordered attachment to food is lifting. A software vendor had us preorder lunch from Panera for a lunch time demo. Long story short, my lunch was not delivered. I have vivid memories, both as a child AND as an adult, where the anticipation of "eating special" built and built to the point where if there wasn't enough, or something was left out, I'd be completely devastated..to the point of tears. My response yesterday ? No big deal...I have tuna packets and protein bars in my office, I'll just grab something. I had no emotional attachment to the meal. I realized I wasn't looking at lunch as an activity or "event"... another shift from verb to noun ! Lunch is a time to fuel up, no more - no less.

Power to us all, as we shift those old emotion charged potential trigger words  (diet, buffet, pot luck) from verbs to the nouns they truly are.

What a win on your lunch yesterday Diane! Good for you! I've said it before, but I will say it again, I just love your introspection!

125.6 today. 45 minutes of boot camp in yesterday.

Going into work early to leave early for a doctor's appt. for son #1. We get to learn how to administer intramuscular injections today - fun! I'm sure my son will do fine after a while but probably not at first!

Paula - my apologies for missing something - what is your son taking injections for?

No apologies needed. I'm not 100% sure I've shared. He is an XXY male. "Normal" males are XY and females are XX. He has an extra sex chromosome, making him an XXY male. Because of this he does not produce enough testosterone, thus requiring testosterone injections. He has been getting them every 2 weeks at the clinic but we are now going to learn to give them at home, mostly because he will be working at a scout camp all summer and the closet hospital will be an hour away.

My husband worked at Boy Scout camp for 3 summers of high school and it was some of the most wonderful times of his life.  He was lucky enough to work at the pool at the camp and had so much fun as a life guard.  I hope that your son loves it as much as my hubby did.

Good morning!  Diane, you've talked about learning from we veterans.  It's a two-way street, as hearing from those of you who are new to maintenance, helps we veterans to learn and/or remember.  Good for you on your lunch reaction!  I too, in the past would respond (and still do sometimes, sadly) to the anticipation of "special" foods/meals, and have had my share of meltdowns when my food wasn't there.  Hearing how you reacted and dealt with yesterday's situation, reminded me of where I had been at during most of the losing phase and early maintenance.  I still have the 'whatever' attitude at times, but am more apt to feel deprived and upset now, than I was a couple of years ago.  I need to hold on to your nugget of reality.  Thanks so much for the reminder!

Paula, good luck with son #1 today!

Scale was down .7 today - 205.2, but still up from earlier last week.  Food yesterday was ok.  I still engaged in some "in the moment" eating.  Even though what I ate then was healthier than other choices I've made of late, the behavior is not.  Got to keep working at listening and being mindful.

Dance last night was great!  We had a double class, so I was pooped at the end, but I made it through fully engaged.  I got the steps from last week, and the new ones learned last night, so I was pleased.  We're almost at the end of learning our recital routine - only 16 counts left!  This is my 5th year in dance - I started 3 weeks after my surgery.  That I've been able to dance, year after year, is a miracle, and I do not take that lightly.  I want to keep doing this, so I need to keep moving ahead on this journey, even if the road isn't always straight.

Have a great Wednesday!

Hugs, Mary

Wow, a double dance and you did great! It sounds like you are feeling better and are getting over your illness (sinus issues, if I remember right.)

Thanks Shel!  I am feeling better.  The sinuses are still a little plugged, but not nearly as much as a couple of days ago.

Happy Wednesday everyone

welcome new members.   We need your input so please chime in.

Good insight on food anticipations and let downs.  Mary, so relate.

Calories not so great, eating while bored again.   Walking only 9879, but am getting better.
