Wt 215.4 down 2.4 Calories 862 My low calories are because I had company and went out to eat.  Didn't feel very well because of my head.  Chili was the only thing that looked good.  It was greasy and salty and I didn't eat all of it.  It didn't set well. I felt awful the rest of the day with nausea.  My wife had a bug and it lasted about 4 days.  I am feeling pretty well this morning.

I can hoot like an owl.  I hear one in the woods and I call to it.  It calls back.  I worked in a hospital where the ICU was tucked into an isolated area of  small hospital on the Navajo reservation.  I would take blood samples to the lab in the middle of the night.  As I stepped into the hallway the ceiling design vaulted at least 2 ft.  The acoustics are wonderful.  I hooted just to hear the acoustics.  UNTIL I found out that in the Navajo culture the owl has some association with death.  If you can "talk" to a bird of death your company is something to be avoided. And you sure don't want the white guy that talks to birds of death as your nurse in a specialty area already associated with dying.  So now I only hoot in Arkansas.

Good morning all!

I agree with Paula, your stories are awesome.  I can officially say I have no talents in the hooting department.  Glad the scale was kind to you this morning, you have been keeping really low calories and deserve some scale love!

Paula, good luck with the potential buyers today!

146.4 for me this morning, another small tick downward.  I am working this weekend.  One blueberry donut hole flew into my mouth in the break room this morning (dang it!), but I have now had my eggs and chicken sausage and am ready to behave myself.  Going to my parents house for dinner and my Dads birthday celebration tonight, unknown what we are having so will stick to on plan until then.  Calories were only 786 yesterday with a short and sweaty run so felt good about that.

Hope you all have a chance to have some fun today!!

Good morning,

What a great story to wake up to!  Dave, do you have grandkids?  I am sure that you are great dad but you have ultimate grandpa written all over you.

124, lots of steps yesterday.

Booked a flight for Minnesota to attend SIL's ash spreading on my brother's little farm.  It is also a party for all her horse friends and their horses, too.  SIL was such a unique individual, she not only knew what she wanted in life and end-of-life, but she made it happen.

Now that I think about it, my Minnesota brother is likely to be a hooter, too.  I'll have to ask about that.

I am still in love with yesterday's owl picture.  Owls are out and about during the day?  Paula, best of luck with house and DS1's recovery.

Let's all give a joyful hoot today!

Shel

Flying into Minneapolis and then to Monticello which is about 30-45 miles northwest.

I don't suppose you happen to be super close by?  (I know the border is hours away......)

That is why I asked! We used to live in La Crosse (and are going there soon) and it borders MN. We would probably be about 5 - 6 hours away from where I live now!

I do have 1 grandchild and she has had a baby so that makes me a great grand dad. (we are not close) We started way young.  I told my 2 oldest kids they were cheated in the dad department because I worked all the time and I was so young and selfish.  We did foster care in a group home setting for 5 1/2 yrs.  We adopted the last 3 kids that came in because we knew they would just be passed about in the system and they had attachments to us. Our boys were 17 and 19 at the time. Parenting is the hardest job I have ever done.  It comes naturally to some men to be a great dad.  It did not to me.  I am better at it because of the sheer volume of kids we had but it was still work.  Now days playing with a baby, rocking, changing diapers, building stuff in the floor with a toddler or reading to them in my lap.  I can do all that stuff like a kid whisperer.  But at then end of the day I am glad they went home.  My wife has the gift of enjoying it.
