Welcome Jakesmama.  Liz hope you are healing well.

Sorry, But I have been missing the last couple of days.  Weight kept going up and I brought home N&Y to compensate.  Didn't want to post that.  I am down 3 this morning.  But I have had high step days the last 3 days.

Lists. I have been using them for years.  When I was working I had a running list on each patient so I could give an up to the minute report to the next shift.  I shop by list. If it is not on the list I usually don't buy it.  I keep a 'to do' list going all the time.  One for the Airstream (2 items left) and one for everything else.  I have shopping lists on Amazon.  They usually stay in the list a while before it makes it to the cart.  I'm not tied to the lists.  Lists are not a binding contract for me. More like a guide for the day, week, year.  Some days I feel great to get one thing marked off my list.  I celebrate the marking off of an item. Even a small item.  I will bump an item up on the list if it is pressing, next in sequence or easy so I can mark it off.  When I leave home I make a list of the places I need to go. I use Apple "Notes".  I used hand held spiral notebooks before and really enjoyed ripping the page off the notebook when it was completed.  I don't include self care items but that is a good one to start.

As for daily schedule, I used to work ALL the time.  I loved it.  I had a nickname of "sweet 16" because I would work so many doubles in a row.  Now I focus on having a peaceful day.  If I can work with peace in my mind and as pain free as possible then I can create the things on my to do list.  Also, my muse has to be for it or I don't produce much.  I am in bed by 8 most nights.  Asleep by 9 most nights but I start my day at 4-5 most days.  My me time is in the morning quiet.  Reading, coffee, posting and learning the uke.

Seek peace, balance and do good.

134 OTD. 45 minutes of step aerobics and did really well with the food until.........there was a flying baklava incident post Costco run. That bad thing is it didn't even taste that good, at least not 360 calories, 44 Carbs and 24 sugars worth. Live and learn!

Work today and then off to water park with the scouts!

Happy weekend everyone!

Here were my stats for  yesterday - wouldn't have been too bad without the added junk at the end of the night.

It is really rude for 350 calories of baklava not to be worth it.  Baklava should be a slam dunk for worth it.

Hi everyone - no weight for a while, but I'm sure it would be funky between fluids from surgery, compression garment, loss of skin (1.1 pound according to surgeon) and inability to eat much. I'm back to close to purred foods and protein shakes for now at least. I'm actually not hungry either, so I'm eating because I have to. I had to ditch the oxycodone already - it was making me incredibly nauseous even with zofran on board.  The weird thing is that my belly isn't bothering me a whole lot - it's my face (which is incredibly swollen) and a terrible headache. I'm drinking coffee through a straw now hoping that will help the headache, because I realized I might be in withdrawal from caffeine.

Have a great day - thanks for all the support!

133 OTD !! I'll ease myself back into my preferred 129-134 range, and see how that feels with my more active lifestyle. Fluids are cooperating today. Devon, thanks for posting my Reiki room picture. There is a TV mounted on the wall opposite the Reiki (massage) table, were I can stream yoga, core exercises. At the opposite end of the room is my meditation niche. That seems like a sacred space, thus no photos.

Retirement dinner was great.... glad to have it behind me. Completed my second week of boot camp... core feeling much stronger... cutting back on Tylenol.

Have a fabulous list crossing-off day ! Make sure to add a self care item!

Do you have any particular hunks of stone in your new room?  I hate to say this in black and white because it sounds so silly to my Western medicine brain, but I like the IDEA of stones having various properties and occaionally think about picking up something for my yoga room.

I am a very logical, left brained type of person. Yet, I also have a strong spiritual side that don't display to too many people. One thing I have come to believe is that the power of our own spirit/soul/essence/connection to the universe or higher power is an untapped resource for most of us. The more tuned in we become to our inner selves and the more we learn to be kind and gentle and accepting of truth the more our lives become peaceful, centered and fulfilling.

I have three tiered class table. On the top, a Reiki symbol scarf and arrangements of various items of spiritual significance to me such as a vibration bar and mallet that play a particular pitch, small rocks of significance to me (Sedona, Egypt, Falklands), candles, Buddha, inner child carving, OA thirty day coin,,, etc.  This ....alter.... is an anchor to my reflective/meditative practice.

121's, undeserved loss.  The tide is out.

"Now I focus on having a peaceful day."  That might sum up my intention for the year.  Much of this is trying something different at home and work; letting go the way I have always done things just to shake it up and see how it feels. It always feels terrible initially.  Always.   I have been quite surprised at how attached I am to entrenched routines/things.  A bit odd, actually.

One thing that isn't changing is my food routine.  Until it stops working then I shall adjust.

Off to work to exercise my evidence based side of my brain!

Liz, healing wishes your way!  The days are so long but suddenly a whole week will pass by.

Hug your healthy skinny tight today!

Shel

Well, cracky! I am down 7.2 pounds since healthful, whole food, and low sugar eating became my focus on January 3. I am pleased by this. Viewing my loss over time rather than in a day by day fashion is also helpful - especially since the glycogen stores are most likely depleted and rebooting and the daily loss over the past week has been minimal, but steady.

The daily to do list continues to be helpful in keeping me centered and focused and less stressed. It is also showing me that I am indeed productive throughout my day.

So yesterday, I was done with my "work" day by 6:00 pm. I decided to sit and relax and not worry about some chores that didn't have to be done last night. I had a cup of coffee and went online and surfed a little. I had dinner on the table by 7:45 and really had a relaxing rest of the evening. Still went to bed a bit later than I should have, but I am a night owl!

My goal for the weekend is to keep my eating centered on healthy choices that promote weight loss. I find that sometimes with too much down time on my hands I want to eat to alleviate boredom. I have Monday off from school as it is a federal holiday. I have purposely not scheduled any clients and have the entire day to do as I please. I am thinking a massage might be a good idea.

Leap - how are you managing with nuts and yogurt in the house? I thought I might share with you that nuts and yogurt are one of my staples when I am "on plan". I find the combination to be very satisfying. In fact, I usually eat it twice per day. I do limit myself to 2 servings. The first is 1/2 cup of yogurt with 1/4 cup blueberries and 2 tsp roasted pecans. The second serving is 3/4 cup yogurt, 1/4 blueberries, 2-3 tsp chopped pecans. I also add homemade whipped cream to at least one serving per day. There is something extremely satisfying about this dish. Can you manage controlled portions? I see nothing wrong with satisfying myself with the yogurt nut combo each day. Of course, if the nut and yogurt is for you like a home baked decadent cookie is to me, then, yeah, it could be problematic. But if not, what's the harm?

Liz - glad the healing continues!

TGIF!!!!
