Hi Ann.  I'm 62 and have been experiencing problems with sleep off an on for some time.  I've found that essential oils are helpful, at least some of the time.  I use Doterra brand, but there are others.  A combination of lavender and a citrus blend called Citrus Bliss, in a diffuser, seems to help.  They also have an oil blend called Serenity, that my friend who gets the oils at a discount for me, gave me a sample of, but I haven't used it yet.  If I either forget to bring water upstairs for the diffuser, or it needs cleaning, I have put a few drops of the oils on a cotton ball or tissue and slipped it inside of my pillowcase, which works well too.

The other thing that I've done since surgery, is wear socks to bed, year round, due to my feet being cold.  We had training in geriatrics at work, and the person doing the training said that they've found wearing socks to bed can help with falling asleep.  I can't relax, even if my feet have warmed up enough, without the socks on.  Just a couple of FYI's  :)  Good luck!  Mary

Good day all!  The weather is beautiful here today, and I'm determined to get some exercise and fresh air.  DH has found two of the three pairs of snowshoes in the garage rafters.  Yesterday, DH and my youngest and her best friend met some other friends at a local skiing place, and went snow tubing.  I chose not to tube, as I didn't want to be that cold, or so I told myself and others.  If I'm totally honest with myself, I was in "fat mode" - not wanting to be as active, not wanting to wear a jacket that has gotten tight and not wanting others to see me struggle more with getting off of the tube, and the weight I've put on.   I really didn't want to even go with them, but DH asked me too, and I did.  I watched them go tubing, from the lodge, and ate a monster food lunch - little food to feed the soul available there, but I could have managed better.  I'm starting to formally categorize some foods as "monster foods" so I can't as easily delude myself into thinking I'm ok with just a little.  I didn't like how I felt, physically, emotionally or spiritually yesterday - I was right back into the mindset from when I was 300+ lbs.  I need to find that spark I had before surgery, when I felt so desperate, that I was willing to put the food down and do what was needed to have this life changing surgery.  I find the old thinking and behavior patterns are back, especially the "I'll have this just today, but I'll be good tomorrow" mantra that got me to over 300 lbs. in the first place.  I'm not sure exactly how to get that spark back, but I know I need to at least start by taking some steps, just for today, and not eat the monster foods, period, and to move more.  I've been asking HP for help with this.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!  Hugs, Mary

I can relate Mary! I'm finding some old behaviors creeping back into my life and the scale is showing it! Going for a walk in the nice weather right now! That should help!

203. Beautiful day yesterday, my son and I took my grandsons for a 2 mile walk around the reservoir. My son bailed the last time we attempted it so I'm very proud of him for doing it.

I just got sick for the first time in years.  I had some vegetable soup after a turkey/cheese sandwich and then threw up through my NOSE! It was horrible.

I've never had soup or any liquid within 30 minutes after food before, didn't realize until it was too late. Thank God I was home.

Sorry about the nose throw-up, but the walk sounds wonderful!
