Good to hear you. Do not beat yourself up. What is done is in the past. Go from now forward. Family drama is what it is. So hard to not get caught up in the cycle of it. My mantra Seek peace. Food family and work. Seek peace.

Hi Joey, so glad you are back! Sorry about DD's health. But its so wonderful that a complete stranger would be so kind as to mention your success and snap you back to reality. You are a success indeed! DS

Late post, but I was too blubbery to type this morning. Feeling better now. So after yet another accident this morning, I called the surgeon's office at 5am to ask for a callback regarding my urgency problem. They didn't call until 11. She asked it my surgeon had called yet (no, as I knew he was in an all day surgery) so she said she'd check with him and call back. His response when she called back? Get a bedpan. I could have happily killed either of them.

So knowing I'd get no good info from them, I called my new regular doctor I posted about last month - the one's with the awesome access. He called back in less than one minute and explained that it's totally normal when the bladder muscles have nothing to do for over a week and then are suddenly expected to work as before. He then emailed detailed Kegel instructions and a study from a local university about post catheter incontinence and the success of early Kegels afterwards in restoring function. He said if it's not better by Monday to come in for a urine test on the off chance it's a Cipro resistant UTI, but he didn't think that was the case and thought I'd be better before then. Those doctor responses were on the opposite ends of the hope/unhelpful scale! Very disappointed in my surgeon's response and thrilled with my new doctor!

Anyone watching the royal wedding at oh dark hundred tomorrow am? I might try...

YEA for Kegals! So glad you have good information from the non-surgeon!!!!

Love "totally normal" comment, what great reassurance.

And I LOVE that he is predicting that you will be feeling better by Monday. (I am sorry about every minute between now and then, tho).

Talented surgeons are frequently not known for their people and non-cutting patient-care skills. But, honestly, he could at least surround himself with staff that is more helpful. I wish you could have magically transported yourself to their waiting room so their new consults could see what awaits should they sign on the dotted line. Maybe hang a sign around your neck saying "ask me about incontinence"

DD is staying with a friend and that whole family is staying up for the wedding. It is 7:36pm and I'm about ready for bed :)

All fingers and toes crossed for you, my friend.

I have an 8 mile hike planned tomorrow, I think. (Won't decide til tomorrow.). You would have it done in 2 hours. You will never know how often I think about you, your speed, and my lack of speediness.

REI is having a sale should you care to browse on-line.

Aw, thank you Shel! Tomorrow think about how the walk from the car to the trailhead marker would take me 2 hours hunched over like a nonagenarian .

I'm off pain meds. So it's safe to online shop I think!

Hey Paula, I was talking to a friend who was on so many pain meds with spinal surgery she bought 12 pairs of cropped pants from QVC. But it was in 3 batches. She thought on three separate occasions that the pants would be great and bought the same 4 colors each time!
