Three months post op – it’s been hell

Feb 08, 2011

Tomorrow will be exactly three months since my surgery.

Unfortunately my story is not a big success as many people here but I m still hanging in here.

I think that the whole thing was to deal with the blood clot I got two weeks after surgery on Thanksgiving Day.

Three weeks ago I was hospitalize AGAIN – but this time with some results, after another 9 days in the hospital and trip to operation room each day for 5 days, they finally succeed to clear most of the clots in my belly and thigh. The things were so bad that was no blood flow in my leg, no wonder the swelling was so bad, twice as much as the other leg.

The experience in the hospital was the most painful thing I needed to do in my life. I was forced to lay on flat on my back without moving for 6 days. But at least I got some results and the swelling went down some, I can take a shower and drive by myself which is a big accomplishment for me.

THE SCALE IS FINALLY MOVING DOWN since they clean the clots. I lost 22 lb since Jan 18 so scale “please be on my side for a while”…..

Other than that I started going back to a small version of my life, went back to work full time last Monday and I am doing well. I still have swelling in leg but went down dramatically since the last intervention so I m happy about that.

Now let’s talk about the sleeve. I think I m over all doing well with it.

I still can’t drink the protein shakes since cause diarrhea but I order some oatmeal and some soup with 15 gram protein and for some reason this stays down.

I m probably eating around 600 cal a day I think, don’t count them. I m never hungry so need to remember to eat all the time.

Since last weekend I think I m finally around 40-50 gram protein per day from food; I consider a big step for me that I wasn’t able to have more than 25-30 gram a day.

Still vomiting some time, I can’t figure out why. One day I had some chicken and come up and the next day I had the same thing and stayed down.

I don’t understand why yet, still working on it.

I did eat out at restaurants few times, I did okay, never order a full dish, I usually order an add on to my husband dish and pick from that. It’s good for saving money, no question about it.

Last week I started cooking again, but still didn’t learn to cook small dishes, so my husband is happy about that, and we have dinner for next day or something like that.

Went back to eat salads and I do feel like I m cheating when I have home made Pannera Bread baguette bruschetta with feta cheese, but I love it!

I have to admit, one time I was dying  for a diet coke, I poor it on the glass and let I stand for few hours to go flat, and drink it w/o problem, didn’t upset my stomach at all.

I did have little chocolate the other day, I know, I know....

For some reason, hot drinks like decaf coffee or tea make me nauseated so I don’t think I dinked one in long time. But if I drink them cold I m okay, go figure.

My husband is keep telling me to stop analyze everything, not to turn this experience into a science but some things I m still wondering….

As long as the weight will keep coming off I think I m beginning to be oaky but only the time will tell….
