waiting for insurance approval

May 04, 2010

It is time for me to take charge of my life. I have been debating the decision to have WLS for 1yr.  Now is my time!

I had my nutrition eval last Thursday and I just completed my psyc eval Monday.  I was a little nervous from all the horror stories I’ve read but it wasn’t so bad. Dr. Zimmerman was very friendly and just wanted to make sure I knew all there was to know about the operation.  His questions were mostly directed toward what I life changes I was doing to prepare for surgery & my post op care.  The questioner was the worst part of the whole thing it was around 25 pages long & over 1,000 questions.  Most of them were repeated more than once.  It was extremely time consuming .  At the end of our meeting he informed me that he found NO reasons for me not to have the surgery and will be sending my approval letter to my surgeon. Wooowhooo Yaaayyyyyy me!.. I was so happy as soon as I got into my car I literally screamed with joy. The older couple in the car next to me probably thought I was a nut case but oh well I’m one step close to the new me .. Now starts the waiting game.  I hope that my ins. approves me and does it quickly!  I have my first sleep study may 24th if I pass I don’t have to go for a second. I've met some real inspirational ppl on here and I am glad to have the support. I look forward to sharing my thoughts, feelings, frustrations and successes with whoever takes the time to read and share in my journey. I am sure that this experience will have ups and downs, hills and valleys. But I am sure that when I get to the finish line the trip will have been worth it. Thanks for reading. talk to you soon!
