My name is Jackie and I am the mother of two beautiful children, a full time student and I am hoping to have surgery by at least September 2012. Like a lot of others, I have struggled with my weight since I was in elementary school. I was always envious of the smaller girls but thought of myself of being just as good. I never let my weight bother me until now, a year after the birth of my last child. Things are totally out of control but I am ready to make a change. I joined this site with hopes of gaining support and giving support to those who are similar to me.

Good Luck everyone!

6 months!
on March 13, 2013 6:29 pm

Soooo, I am 6 months out and 3 lbs shy of losing 100 lbs and I feel absolutely great!!! I have gone from a tight 22 in pants to a 14 and from a 22/24 top to XL and some L. I can shop in stores that I used to dream about going into! I want to tone but not lose anymore weight. .I think that the reaction that I am getting from some family members is that I am getting a little too small and I kinda think so too....I am 5'8 so Im not short and I dont want to begin to look crazy. I have to put some pics up because this is ridiculous!!!

Tomorrow's the day!
on September 11, 2012 2:27 pm
So, surgery is in the morning and I am between scared and excited. I don't know what I really will feel but with all of the group sessions that I have attended, I kind of have an idea what it's gonna be like. I can't wait to finally be on the "losers bench". For once, a loss is a great thing!

Less than 2 weeks
on August 30, 2012 2:28 pm
OMG! I can hardly contain myself! I have less than 2 weeks to go before surgery. Right now I am preparing to buy all of the protein drinks that I will need for the first 2 weeks so that i won't have to worry about sending people out once I get home. I'm READY!!!

Dieting
on August 15, 2012 7:36 am
Well, I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet and so far it's been good. I thought that I would be overwhelmingly hungry and to my surprise, Im not. I will not weigh myself in between visits. I will save that for my visits to the surgeon but so far so good. The free foods help a lot. I can have celery, cucumbers, dill pickles, sugar-free jello and sugar-free icees but Im sticking with the jello and pickles for now.

Tomorrow is my first visit back since the start but Im confident that this is going to be a great ride!

My Story

Overweight and sick and tired of being sick and tired....

Here I am at  32 years old and I am overweight and at the point where things have become uncomfortable. I have decided that I am going to have gastric bypass surgery. I have told a few family members and friends of my decision and I have gotten some good results and some that are not so good. My mother is not my number one fan. She feels that I should start eating better and working out everyday. That's not the case here. I've tried almost every diet that there is on the market and I cannot tell a lie and say that those diets did not work because they did, short term, but the weight always came back and most times I gained more than I lost. I am ready for this journey and willing to make any changes that I need to make in order to become successful at what I am attempting. I chose a surgeon but his employees really made me feel as if they had not a clue as to what was going on. I found someone on this site who is probably close to where I live. She had an amazing experience with a surgeon and although he is over 2 hours away from where I live, I have decided to use him. Anyone who's in SC and close to Greenville, please consider Dr. Scott or Dr. Bour. It's more than a surgery, it's a life changing event. They realized that an implemented so many other things than just filling out papers. Hopefully I will be able to have surgery by August or September 2012.
