Almost 5 yrs later-No surgery even fatter

Dec 16, 2012

Its been about 4 yrs since I decide to have surgery. I got to the EGD then chickened out.

So I tried to lose weight myself. All the thin people said "All this stuff your going thru?? Just eat less!" wow wish I'd thought of that. anyway. I lost 20 pounds than gained back 50.

When I went to my doctors a few months back for depression and exhaustion they made me get on the scale and the had to move it the 250 range I was so sick of myself. I decided to try again.

One of the things that scared me was the Open surgery and having my guts literally pulled out.. So I found a dr that did Laproscopic.

I searched the net and spoke with people at the hospital where i work and one Name kept coming up. Dr Profettta and she was 5 mins from my house (dr Greenbaum was 50mins) and took my insurance so I went to see her.

I was very impressed with her. Then a few weeks later I got a letter from my job that all Dr's that were part of the Hospitals group could be seen by employee for NO COPAY.  35$ a visit was one of the things making surgery not something I could afford. Not to mention that I would have to go thru each of the test and clearances again. But then more good news all test performed at the hospital where I worked would be covered with NO Copay!!!

THIS WAS A SIGN!!! iT WAS TIME TO RESTART AND FINISH MY WLS JOURNEY!!

  • So far I have gotten:
  • Blood work
  • chest xray
  • cardio clearance (Stress echo, more blood work)
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • 3 Nutrition classes.
  • Pulmonary function test
  • Sleep study-Still waiting for results

Still have to:

  1. Get a liver biopsy (12/18/12)
  2. Get my EGD (1/4/13)
  3. Get the OK from my hepatologist (depends on biopsy)
  4. Meet with Dr Profetta (12/27/12) to determine type of surgery
  5. Get Ok from insurance
  6. Get letter from my primary dr
  7. Pre-Op blood work
  8. Pre surgery liquid diet
  9. Other things that will be requested by drs

I'm going to follow thru this time. I have to. FOR ME.
