Weigh-in

May 12, 2010

exactly one week post-op and at my visit to Dr. Schumacher I weighed in and had lost 5 lbs.   All staples removed, replaced with steri strips, drain removed, replaced with small bandage.  As steristrips loosen in showers go ahead and remove.  Weight lifting upped from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.  All activity okay as long as it doesn't hurt, go ahead and do it.  Try to get back to normal activity and life.
Food changed from full liquid to mashed, anything that can be mashed with the tines of a fork for the next two weeks.
I made some home made chicken salad with canned chicken and lite ranch dressing.  did okay at lunch.  Learned very quickly at dinner what happened if I ate too fast or too much.  did not dump but got very uncomfortable.  it was too fast.
Interesting days ahead.  Saw Imready4 at the doctor's and she looked great.
DH and I spent the afteroon with our builder working on design of new house.
Tomorrow are our house inspections (3) of them.    Things are moving fast and I am very thankful.  Hard work does pay off.
I think I am going to be having a big sale on different proteins.  I find that my favorite kind is one that I can pick up at Walmart which gives me 28 grams of protein with 4 oz. of liquid.  This will become my "booster" protein.

After two weeks of mashed, I am to start eating "real food", chewing, chewing, chewing.  etc. etc. etc. Not that mashed isn't real food, but it is already kind of pre-chewed.  juggling all kinds of things trying to get in protein, water and vitamins, this I am sure will become routine.

So a wonderful day, and I think I will weigh-in on Wednesdays each week, since that is where my first weigh-in started.
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.  I have to get everything back into place for the inspections in the morning and get myself out of here by 9:30.
Hugs to all
Janet
