Psych.!

Well, yesterday I got approved through the psych. test stage!! YEAAAA!  I was really worried I wouldn't b/c I was denied at another location.  :(  I have some psychological issues and I guess at the time they thought I wasn't ready.  I am doing even better now and am so glad the other center can see that too.  For all those out there who have problems also, whatever they may be, I wish you all the comfort I could give you!  I pray that your issues (that's what I call them) are healed and that you can have patience from God to deal with denial from your bariatric center if that should happen!  I don't mean to scare anyone to think that they will be denied also b/c of psych. issues,  I just want you to know it can happen and pray about it before your appt. with the dr.  They basically ask you questions about yourself and that is it.  Some do some personality test to see if you have a good outlook on how the surgery will effect your life!  And that's basically all.

What I ate Today

This is what I ate today!

Breakfast was a bowl of all grain flakes cereal with skim milk.
Lunch was 1 double stack with pickle, ketchup and mustard from Wendy's
.....and then 1/2 of another one made the same way
...with grape crystal light.
Supper was nacho chips with nacho cheese, very small serving from Taco Bell
....also soft Taco Supreme and..... a couple bites of a burrito supreme,(it tasted terrible)
...to top it off I had an apple empanada!

NOT GOOD AT ALL!   but I put it down on computer and there it sits.....

My goal tomorrow is to write again what I had to eat on the WETO forum.  a friend told me about it and it sounds
like a good idea.
My exercise goal is to work outside on my landscape if the heat cooperates,  if it doesn't then I will walk my dog more than
usual!
My eating behavior goal is to eat without the tv on, no radio, no reading.  Just being Mindful of what I am eating and enjoying
it!

Eating on the Road

Eating on the road is so hard to do when I am on the high protein liver reduction diet.  Sometimes it's easier to go to fast food and get a side salad than go to Chinese.  (which I did today!)  Totally blew it with General Tso's chicken and white rice.  What am I going to do after I have surgery?
Well, a couple good things happened today!
1.  My niece placed first in special olympics swimming (it DID take some bribing from her aunts LOL!)
2.  I cut the grass and did some other outside work, sweat like a pig!
Hopefully the cutting grass counteracted the chinese!
Reminder to self:  read your books on mindfulness and self soothing in the correct way!

Mindfulness- staying in the moment

Lately I have been having trouble keeping my thoughts "in the moment"  Today I drove to a drive-thru and sometimes I don't even know how I got there.  Then when I pull up they are in such a hurry to get you through the line that you order what you always order, bad stuff.
I ordered an asian chicken dish and a side caesar salad.  Not bad compared to what I usually get.  Oh, I forgot I also got a pop and a Frosty.  whoops!

How am I going to get off pop and sweets before my surgery?  I have a week and a half before my last supervised weight loss meeting .  I want to stop before then.

Temptations are all around us.  That is why self-talk usually helps.  Positive self-talk can be as powerful as neg. self-talk.  Do any of you self-talk?

Tomorrow I'm going to start writing in my food journal again and see exactly what is going in my mouth.  Change can happen and it starts with one step forward!

got approval?

So, it's been over a year since I began this journey to WLS.It seems like a long time, yet I know others have waited longer and have had more serious health issues than me.  My brother had to wait 2 years and had surgery over a year ago.  His health was way more serious than mine and in the process I have learned what patience is all about.  Yes, I do have co-morbiditities, so I keep saying to myself you need and deserve this surgery.  I am waiting on the psych. eval. to be "approved" and the dietitians approval, then hopefully I will be another step closer.  God has taught me a lot through this process over the last year.  Patience and knowing I rely on His timing are lessons enough, but I know I have grown in many other ways.  Wish me luck over the next couple weeks and if you are a believer a prayer would be awesome!

My Story

Hi everyone!  My name is Kathi.  I have slowly and forever been gaining weight since I was 18.  It all started when my dad died from his third heart attack.  I am 40 yrs. old now and at a whopping 273!  I hope for my 40th year of life I can start a new life with weight loss surgery.  I am a Christian and my faith in God gets me through each and every day.  My family is an awesome support system and I couldn't ask for more from them and my friends!  My brother and sister-in-law both had the RNY within the last year and a half.  When I think of my dad dying when he was only 51 I think of what all he missed over the next 22 years.  I don't want to die at 50, I want to live another 40 or more. I live in southern Indiana but am originally from up by Indy.  I am new at the communicating online thing but hope I can get the hang of things!  :)  I hope to meet all of you who also would like to meet me!  I am a optimistic person with a warm personality!  Come and join me on this journey of ours!!!
