Ten days post op

Oct 01, 2011

Well, its been 10 days since surgery.

Here are a few things I have learned:

When you are in the hospital, there is no such thing as modesty. Needing help wiping yourself is not bad.
Passing gas can be difficult.
Coming home can be more difficult.
Smelling food might make you head hungry, and physical hunger isnt really there - the rumblings you feel are usually gas, thirst and your new body relearning itself.

I will say this. On the morning of surgery, I weighed myself - I weighed 377.7 that morning. I weighed myself this morning - 358.2, thats 19.5 pounds in 10 days! I am staying off of the scale now until Tuesday, my appointment. Not sure I am ready to go back to work yet. I might talk to the doctor about going back part time, and working from home for a week or so. I am exhausted, and still taking pain meds to sleep - laying down in bed hasnt happened yet. I can only sleep sitting up in the recliner on the couch.

My kids did have a hard time while I was away - my daughter seems to have gone on a hunger strike, my oldest son had some pretty severe emotional issues, and the youngest - well, he slept on the chair in the livingroom the first night I came home from the hospital, in case I needed help! He is a worrier! Lol...

I can go up and down the stairs without too much of a problem now, and walking around is better too. I get up and moving a little bit... I need to walk more. I havent been walking much, except around the house - it has been raining out almost every day, which is why I havent been doing as well as I should have. Today is raining on and off, and I will need to be walking today - yesterday, I walked once... today, I need to do it twice. Minimum... I should be up to 4 times a day by now!! Unfortunately, I havent been sleeping, and have had some residual issues with nausea and keeping fluids in. This is only going to make me stay home longer, and not get back to work anytime soon, like I want to!

My mom had surgery yesterday for CAD, and she is having a reaction to the anesthesia - she is nauseas, and isnt able to keep anything down. They are keeping her in the hospital a couple more days, to make sure she can handle things. Better to be safe than sorry!!

Courtney is making french fries for lunch... how much I would love to have some!! But, I am going to be good... I have moved myself up in the food stuff though - pudding for beakfast (I'm not supposed to have it until Tuesday) and a piece of cheese last night. Both have agreed with my, and have made me want to drink more. I'm not hungry. My pouch feels satisfied, and I dont feel the need to eat anything else. Tuesday, I might have eggs for dinner or lunch - depending on which will be easier!

Okay, time to get off my ass and go for a walk!! Here is hoping to a wonderful day and terrific weight loss!!!
