Dominican Republic Gastric Sleeve

 To start things off FLIGHT CANCELLED   but finally made it to the DR.  Had surgery one day late b/c of flight cancellation.  Had surgery 7/28/10 at 0500am.  Everything went great.  Laid down on the surgery table and prayed to God and did my BelizeSleeve chant and dont remember a thing until recovery room.  Where I woke up in no pain and very drowsy and lifted my head and said is it done?  The nurse came over and said everything went great and just to rest awhile.  Later Dr Leino came in and woke me up, ask how I was doing.  Said I feel good, he said no pain, no shoulder pain, no back pain, no incision pain, I said no.  He said we need you make peace and I look at him strangely and didn't understand.  Okay Im thinking am I going to meet my Maker or what and then finally after a cute little demonstration I figured out they wanted me to pee  So I said I think I can go and I started getting up and Dr Leino said you think you can walk and I said I think so, so got out of bed and walked to the bathroom.  Not bad I did good, a little pain sitting and standing but not bad.  Then the nurse took me back and ask if I wanted to sit in a chair.  Did that for about an hour and off to my room.  Still filling good but drowsy.  I slept off and on the rest of the day and night just getting up to go to BR.  Dr Leino came to see me sometime that afternoon asking about pain, said I didn't have any.  The next day the doctor came to teach me how to drink which was a little harder than I thought.  He gave me a full pack of medicine cups and said you drink 1 every 15 mins until you go to sleep tonight.  Try to not sleep during the day you need to to drink.  So he filled my cup and I took what I thought was a tiny sip.  Ok not bad and tried another one, slowly he said and then the chest pain started coming on I sat up straight thinking OH ITS THE BIG ONE EDITH and started breathing like I was in labor and he said slowly, slowly you need to sip--gas--sip--gas and no sooner than he said that I burped--nothing dainty, no one of those that can move boulders  Oh excuse me, a little embarrassed that that came out of me in front of people I don't know.  Dr Leino said perfect  thats the way you do it.  So we practiced for a while sip--burp--sip--burp.  Later that afternoon they took us to the all inclusive resort.
The resort was wonderful.  So our days would go like wake up, down to breakfast, walk 2 or 3 laps around the pool rest in a lounge chair pool side with umbrella sipping water and juice the go up to room to cool down and do the same thing over for lunch and dinner--oh what a life--COME BACK TO REALITY BARBARA.  
The whole experience was great!  No complaints at all for going to the DR for surgery!!
