Surgeon Testimonial

Janey S.A. Pratt, M.D.
She is a very pretty woman. Very big, beautiful eyes. She is very understanding and very caring of her patients. She did remarkable work on my panniculectomy and I love the way my new body looks. I am glad I got her as a doctor. Thank you, Dr. Myles Karowack for refering me to her.

My Story

Although I didn't have the traditional WLS, I have lost over 120 lbs and have had a panniculectomy and hernia repair.

About 3 years ago, I weighed over 400 lbs. Then, I got sick with no real diagnosis. (I still struggle with aches, pains, and sick feelings with no diagnosis. )

I had massive trouble with nausea and abdominal pains to the point where I could barely eat anything. I survived on a diet of Slim-Fast and animal crackers for a long time. (and doctors were actually congratulating me for it, instead of helping me feel better! ) I ended up losing a little over 120 lbs. Sure, it is good to lose all of that weight, but it definitely is not a good way to do it.

3 years later, I still struggle with chronic nausea, pains, and eating problems, but they are not as bad as they were back then. (praise the Lord on that one!)

Due to all that weight loss, I had a very large over-hanging belly. It hung in my lap!  I had developed a hernia near my belly button that doctors did nothing but argue with me about the pain it was causing! I finally found a surgeon who was willing to operate on me (I am considered "high risk" because of my weight and I am on a blood thinner) and I had my surgery on February 25th. I had approximately 20 lbs removed off of my belly.

Sure, it feels better not having that massive belly and clothes shopping is much easier and more fun, but my recovery is long and sometimes painful.

I border around 300 now and would like to lose more. Right now I stick to my Slim-fast and try to eat a low fat diet as well. My workouts right now mainly consist of walking, due to the fact I am still recovering from my surgery and my surgeon said it would take 6 months to 2 years to completely heal.

I find great comfort in this website. I stumbled across it accidentally when I was doing a search on something, and I am so glad I did! I love the people and the support I get and I hope I am returning the same love and support as well.
