One week.

Jun 14, 2010

One week ago I was just coming out of surgery at this time. I would call this past week H3ll week. It's been rough. My drain comes out this Thursday. Thank goodness for that. I am still having lots of trouble getting up and out of bed. I feel dehydrated no matter how much water or sugar free popscicles I eat. I am tired all the time. I tolerate yogurt and pudding along with the clear liquids. I did try some shredded cheese last night. I had about 1/8 of a dixie cup so I doubt my body registered that. What I really want is fruit. I love mangos. Really I just need to tough it out and follow the program and know that each day this does get a tad bit easier. I am still grouchy about a nurse I had in the hospital. See below:
Catheter comes out at 2pm. Patient asks for ice chips several times and is refused b/c nurse doesn't have time to go get them. Nurse comes in at 5pm asking why patient has not urinated yet. Patient has just come off of a 48 hour fast. Patient explains this to nurse and states that she has been asking for fluid for the past two hours. How can patient urinate when patient is dehydrated and has been refused liquids. Nurse insists to put catheter back in. Patient adamently refuses and really starts to get angry with Nurse. Maybe Nurse can't remember that she was "too busy" to get some ice chips. Nurse reluctantly gets patient three cups of ice chips. Patient downs the ice chips in 1/2 hr. 2 hrs later patient is peeing. Imagine that.
I did have a great nurse named Jasper. He was there for one day. He always seemed so calm about everything. Thanks Jasper :) I am going to send you a thank you card.
I need to be in a better mood today. Sorry for the depressing post.
