Holy hell!!!

Aug 11, 2012

I take 12 different medications. All but 2 of them I take every day. Those other 2 I take as needed. Paying for medications every month usually costs me around $40, which may not sound like a lot, but given that I only get $700 a month, $40 is a big deal for me!

I received a letter in the mail today from Medicare that says they will deliver ALL my medications right to my door with free shipping. It sounded pretty cool. I use Rite Aid right now for all my prescriptions and I’ve been annoyed with them recently because they’ve been shorting me on my pills. I get a 30 day supply of all my medications. I filled 4 of them at the same time but they all ran out at different times. One of them ran out a full week before the others!

I called Medicare and spoke with the guy about the program. He already had all my medications on file. For me to get my prescriptions directly from Medicare will cost me $0. That’s for TWELVE medications for a NINETY day supply. FREE!! How fucking crazy is that?!?!

He said it would take a while for them to ship because he has to get permission from my psychiatrist and my regular doctor to fill the prescriptions so if there were any medications I would run out of before then, just to call Rite Aid and have them fill a 14 day supply.

I hung up with Medicare and called Rite Aid because I have 3 prescriptions that I’ll run out of before Wednesday. To fill those 3 prescriptions for 14 days will cost me $4.40! Really?!

So here’s the rundown:

Medicare
12 scripts
90 days
$4.40

Rite Aid
3 scripts
14 days
$0

I’m so glad I got that letter today!! That’s gonna save me SO much money a month!!!
