Cardiology and more

Aug 31, 2012

I went to the cardiologist (Dr. Murray) this morning. He asked me some questions and went through my medical history.

Back in 2009, I had an echo done on my heart and also wore a Holter monitor for 24 hours. My doctor at the time (Dr. Houbi) put me on a heart medication but he said it was because my blood pressure was high. A few months later, he took me off the medication but never said why. I figured he was the doctor so he knew what he was talking about.

Apparently, I should have remained on the medication this entire time. The cardiologist said that my heart function has decreased by 45%. I had another echo and it shows no problems. There are no blockages or murmurs. My heart rate has been running very high. It peaked at 148 beats per minute! Before I left the office, it had gone back down to 84. I told him about the palpitations I've been having and he said my EKG from the other day showed palpitations.

The cardiologist ordered a stress test. I have to go back on Tuesday to have that done.

I left there and went to have my car inspected. The guy also gave me a new wiper blade, fixed 2 blown bulbs, and gave me a new floor mat. :D When I left there, I went to have my driver's license renewed. I've been driving on an expired license since December!

I ran by my house to pick up my mom, then she and I had some lunch. We went to Walmart, and while in there, my left shoe broke so I had to buy some new sneakers. We left there and it had gotten so hot outside that we just came home.

When I collected the mail, there was a letter saying that my ultrasound detected that I have NAFLD. It stands for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. Apparently, there are pockets of triglycerides in my liver cells. Thankfully, it is reversible. Having the surgery is supposed to help.

*sigh* I really want to be healthy again.
