I survived!

Sep 08, 2012

Today was my stress test. I was so nervous I could only have half a banana for breakfast! My legs were shaking while I was in the waiting room:

I got there and the nurse hooked me up to the machine. She had me recline in a chair to get a resting rate while we waited for Dr. Murray to come into the room. He had me step on the treadmill and the test began.

Their goal was to get my heart rate up to 160 beats per minute. They had the treadmill going so that I was almost running. It took 6 minutes for my heart rate to get where it needed to be. They kept me there for another minute before they slowed me down, then finally stopped the machine.

They helped me get back to the recliner because I'd gotten dizzy. I sat there for a few minutes while my heart rate went back to normal. My vision got really blurry and I felt woozy. The nurse took my blood sugar and it was really low (I don't know what the number was, she didn't say). Dr. Murray had his nurse get me some juice. After a few swallows, I started feeling a little better.

Dr. Murray said my heart looks great. He sees no problems, so he has given me clearance for my surgery! He faxed all my paperwork and his notes to Dr. Chapman.

The only things I have left to do are:

  1. Meet with my regular psychiatrist on Tuesday. Get her clearance and have her fax her notes to the pre-op psychiatrist.
  2. Meet Dr. Bitar on Thursday to discuss my Upper GI (I'm not sure if I'm having it that day or not).
  3. Meet with Alanna on Thursday for my last require pre-op visit.
  4. Meet with my therapist on the 19th to discuss the surgery. Get her clearance and have her fax her notes to the pre-op psychiatrist.

After the pre-op psychiatrist gets the notes from my regular psychiatrist and my therapist, he'll fax his stuff to Dr. Chapman, then I can schedule my next appointment with him.

At that appointment, he'll be getting all my paperwork together, have me sign a bunch of shit, then my case will be presented to my insurance for approval. Depending upon their answer, I can have a surgery date as soon as October 15th.

One step at a time...
