Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Before menopause I never really struggled with my weight. If I needed to lose weight, dieting with Atkins or just cutting back would work and I could usually drop the weight fairly quickly. However, upon entering pari-menopause at about age 45 everything changed. My fat distribution changed (I had back fat for the first time ever). Menopause was long and worse than puberty for me. Finally after seven years the docs got my hormones settled and I was able to lose a good deal of the 70 lbs. I had gained. I dieted and was truly conscientious about exercise and food for the next seven years. Then in 2007 I quit smoking and within 3 years all of the weight I had lost plus some came back. It was a dreadful three plus years. My daughter had Bariatric...

Still plugging away
on November 15, 2012 2:36 am

I haven't posted in well over a month, but thought I should.  I'm down another 3 lbs. this month so I'm still plugging away and losing slowly but surely.  I feel wonderful and it is fun when I see people who haven't seen me in a long time.....they always give me such a shocked look and ask with this shocked voice how much weight have you lost.....and I love it!!!!

I am happy and healthy and I'm loving life.

Into the 60's ..... OH MY
on October 6, 2012 2:33 am
After not posting for so many months, this will make two posts in two days.  The reason:  got on the scale this morning and I'm in the 160's......and I haven't seen that number in sooooooo many years.

As I said in my post the other day, yesterday was my one year anniversary, which was huge, so to see that "6" this morning was another huge milestone.

The way my weight loss has gone this past year, I will flucuate at this low weight by a pound or two for about a month and then have a substantial drop, so I'll probably stay in the 160's for a while, which just seems to be my loss pattern.  As frustrating as that can get at times, at least the numbers on the scale keep going down.

It's been a wonderful year and I'm ever so grateful that I had the opportunity to have this life saving surgery.

One year tomorrow
on October 4, 2012 2:39 am
I haven't posted in so long....still losing slowly but steadily.....and I met my goal of being in a size 12 by my one year anniversary.  Haven't been in a 12 in over 20 years.  Wish the weight loss was bigger, but I'm happy with what I've achieved so far.  By next year I want to be down another 15 pounds and don't see why that can't happen.

It's been a wonderful year of health and happiness.

Was so surprised by the weight drop
on May 16, 2012 11:09 am
For those of you who read my posts, you know that I have been lamenting my slow weight loss.  I really believe it has a lot to do with my age, and for a while I think it had to do with me not drinking the amounts of water I am supposed to drink.

I've had a super stressful couple of weeks at work and was not feeling particularly good about hoping on the scale this morning....fearing that the stress would have been slowing me down even more.  Plus, I wasn't feeling as though I was losing.  Well, the Universe works in mysterious ways.....I was down six pounds in 12 days.  I almost fell off of the scale.

The past two weekends I have done loads of yardwork and I think I get a great workout from that.  And, on Monday I was at Curves, and that always helps burn a couple of hundred calories.  So, I think the exercise may have had a lot to do with the sudden drop.  Before I might only drop a couple of pounds in a month and to lose 6 in two weeks is just incredible to me.

So, I'm still stressing about work, but I'm happy with the weight loss and that means a lot.

Right onTrack
on April 19, 2012 11:09 am
I had my six month check up today.  What a nice doctor's visit!!!!  He said I am right on track and is very pleased with my progress.  I have six months to lose 30 lbs. and I will have reached his goal for my weight loss surgery.  I want to lose more than that, but will be thrilled with 30 more pounds gone when I see him in October.  His nurse actually told me I didn't look like I needed to lose any more weight......that's a first and it sure felt good to hear.

So, once again, I can't say how happy I am that I had this surgery.....it has changed my life in such a good way.
