The End of the Beginning

I began considering this surgery about 10 months ago.  My BMI was too high for a safe surgery, so I've spent most of that time getting to a weight that made surgery possible.  Now, I'm about 9 days away from my surgery and it is becoming a reality for me. 

The surgery may mark the beginning, but for me, this journey began last summer.  It is culminating in the surgery now and that will begin the middle part of my journey.  This is the first time in my life that I feel that total weight loss and maintenance is actually going to happen.  I've been positive before.  I've felt confident before.  But, this time, I feel a great amount of assurance that this will work and that it will be permanent.

I understand that I have a responsibility to do my own part.  However, my body will no longer be able to saboutage or overcome my will.
