Foot Surgery

Feb 26, 2020

So yesterday I had foot surgery on what was my 13th day post op from my revision surgery from vsg to rny. I was just starting to feel good post and here I went and step on glass Saturday night. I tried to take it out cause I thought it was a little piece...I couldnt get it out so I took myself to city md on sunday and they couldn't get it out .So they told me that I would have to see a specialist and being that it was Sunday everything was closed...So they said that I would get a call monday morning about my appointment and time. So I headed to my appointment which Thank God was only about 20 mintues from house. So the dr did xray and the glass was actually deeper and bigger than I thought. So he said that he was comfortable taking it out in the office and that he wanted to take me to the OR because being that it was an open wound for two days he was afraid that infection might have set in already. So he told me that I would have to have emergency foot surgery. All i kept saying was that injust had surgery 12 days ago...So I had my surgery yesterday and everything went well Thank god and I have to wear this bandage on my foot for 2 weeks, So me trying to shower is going to be tricky because I cant get it wet at all...They also gave me a foot shoe to wear in case I have to go anywhere...So it's basically elevating my foot and staying off it as much as possible.

Gas Pain????????????

Feb 21, 2020

So today was definitely one fo those day of  regret. I'm now 9 days post op and I'm tired of everything (broth, jello, yogurt, protein shakes,g2,powearede, cottage cheese, etc). The funny thing is I actually woke up in good spirits today,I was really hungry but had some coffee, water and a protein pouch in. Then I was relaxing watching tv and all of a sudden I was attack by gas. It was coming out of both end and my stomach was in so much pain. I actually started crying that's how bad it hurt. I walked, drank hot water with lemon which seemed to help and just when I thought I was getting relief the gas pain would start again. Then went on most of the day for me today. So more walking and hot lemon water and that gave me some relief but it still wasnt the big one....I honestly forgot that I had GAS X in the stuff that I had bought. I drank two right away and although I'm still having pain it's coming out and I'm very thankful for that.

3 days post op....

Feb 15, 2020

Good Evening everyone,

I'm three days post op revision from gastric sleeve to gastric bypass...So a little back history I went to my surgeon back in august because the acid reflux that I was experiencing was something terrible. He told me I need to do an endoscopy, I was unable to get one until about december. I had my endoscopy in December and they say that I stage A esophagitis and there was a small hole less than 5mm. My surgeon put me on meds which really wasnt helping me. I saw him again in January to go over the results of the endoscopy and to figure out of we was going to move forward to doing a conversion. After he listened to my concerned, He gave me his suggestion. The only thing I had to do was meet with the nutritionist for a one on one session and then a group session with the nutritionist and the nurse practitioner. Being that I'm almost 8 years out from having gastric sleeve I didnt have to do eveything that someone who is getting the surgery for the first have to do. My surgeon office called me on 1/21/20 and told me that I had been approved and I need to pick my date so I wanted any day that I would be the first case. So 2/12/20 at 9 am I had my conversion,My surgery took longer than expected because when my surgery got in there I had a hiatal hernia so he had to fix that before doing the bypass. I have so much pain on my right side ,I've been able to tolerate eveything from day of surgery. I was only in the hospital one day and was sent home with oxycodone, zofran ,colace and tylenol. I've been able to get in my fluids by drinking lots of hot lemon water which is helping with the gas,I'm also drinking the premier protein, jello and lots of broth. I've yet to have a bowel movement but I have lots of burping and farting  which is such a relief cause that gas pain hurts like hell.

Liquid diet

Feb 10, 2020

So today started my clear liquid diet. I did pretty good for the most part and I was at work so I kept myself busy...When I got home that's when the problem started. I had a piece of cheese and bread....smh what the hell I know better than that.... I  had my consent and blood work done today. So now it's just the waiting game until wednesday. I'm the first case of the day so I have to be at the hospital at 6 am...My surgeon told me that I should only be in the hospital for one day but I remembered when I had my gastric sleeve I was in the hospital for two days. The most important thing is that I get rid of this acid reflux. I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited about some more weight loss. My surgeon predicted that I should be able to lose 50/75 pounds which is perfect because that will put me at my personal goal of being anywhere from 230/250. Can everyone send positive thoughts and energy my way. I will give another quick update Wednesday in route to the hospital or after surgery.

Back Again....

Jan 28, 2020

Hello,

I just wanted to start  by saying that i had a profile on OH years ago when i first strated my journey,I basically lived on here and was on ever forum possible trying to learn as much as i can and do as much research as possible. I origally had surgey 3/13/12 and i had a sleeve. The day of my surgery i was 455.3 pounds fast foward to 2020 and the lowest weight that ive gotten down too was 306. I'm currently weigh 319 and i'm ok with that althought i never did hit my goal of 230 i'm very proud of all the prgress that i've made...So you might wonder what brings me back to OH,Well i'm schedulded to have Revison of sleeve to bypass on 2/12/20 because of GERD with no relief from medication. Intial i wasn't sure if i wanted too but i can't deal  with this flare up from the gerd,I'm nervous and excited to be on the loser bench again. My surgeron already told that i wont lose the same amounth of weight that i intial did and i'm okay with that ,Just as long as this GERD goes away and i get under 300 pounds i'll be happy. Overall i've had a textbook surgery and recovery and i pray for the samething this time around. So now i'm just couting down the days until my surgery daty which is right around the corner.
