Hello everyone at AMOS. Today I am 4 weeks post-op. Just wanted to stop in and say that I feel great. Sometimes I actually forget I had surgery. Not sure what my total weight loss is now. I havent weighed this past week, but last time I did it was about 25 lbs. I can tell a real difference in my clothes. For the 1st time ever, I went thru my closet and took out clothes that are too big. The only real problem that I have is that sometimes I forget not to drink and eat at the same time. But after one drink of water that pain reminds me. HAHA. Thanks to everyone for sharing the most intimate details of your life. And of course the most thanks to God for bringing us safely to the lighter side of life. God Bless all,Leah

Hi everybody, Today is my 2 week anniversary. I went to the Dr for check-up and removal of stitches. He said incision is healing very nice and looks good. It already feels better without those ugly stitches. I've lost 21 lbs since surgery date and total of 24 lbs. I can really tell the difference. I havent been eating as much as I should. Can you believe he told me I had to eat at least 3 times a day whether I want to or not. Sometimes I really dont feel like it. But I will do what he says, he is the expert on this. He said I could vacuum now, but not push the lawnmower. Still no heavy lifting, cause there are stitches underneath. I just ate some macaroni & cheese. It was pretty good. Just wanted to update and say thanks to all who share your experiences with the world. You are all great. Leah

Hello all. Today I'm 8 days post-op and had my 1st food. It was oatmeal and yes 2 ozs did fill me up. I'm going to try some mashed potatoes and asparagus later today. My incision is healing great, which was a concern of mine due to the diabetes. It looks good. Cant wait til Monday May 14, when the stitches come out. All in all I feel great. Better than I had expected. Later

Hi everyone, I am 1 week post-op today. Seems like a long time ago. I feel really good. It was not as bad as I had expected. I'm still on liquid diet, but can start soft food tomorrow. Looking forward to something different. I'm trying to decide what foods I will try 1st. Maybe oatmeal, mashed potatoes or banana. The discomfort from the incision is getting less and less each day. It looks pretty good, just a little swelling and still some bruises. It hard to stay still and not try to do more than what the Dr. said I could do. It's really hard not to vacuum. Seriously it is 1 of my favorite things. I did put some clothes in the wash today. But I didnt pick up anything heavy. I tried some sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast this morning and it was good. Only 2 ozs seems like such a small amount. I used to drink the whole glass in about 2 minutes. Just wanted to say good luck to everyone having surgery, it is the best thing I have done for myself. I have not had any diabetes or blood pressure meds since last Sunday April 29. My sugar is normal and blood pressure has been good all week. Yea. That is more answered prayers. I went to church yesterday and felt great. Everybody was surprised to see me out and about. Some thought I was supposed to be in bed 2 weeks. No really, the more you walk, the better you feel. I'm hardly sore at all now.I still need to find a good scale so I can check myself. I go to the Dr. next Monday for removal of stitches. I'm looking forward to that. Talk to you all later, Leah

Hi Leah, My name is Katrina and I had my vbg done by Dr. Harberg 3 weeks ago. Since then I have lost 22 lbs!! I just thought that I would let you know that we VBGers, have a great support group at www.onelist.com there are two groups there one is HWLSSG and the other is vbg. The HWLSSG is Houston Weight Loss Surgery Support Group. The vbg is just for people with vbg. You will be able to ask questions concerning your post-op and you will be answered by people who had the only the vbg. There is also a support group at the Park Plaza hostpital in the educational building that meets on the first Sunday of the month. The next meeting is this Sunday at 3pm until 5pm. Most of the people there have had surgery with Dr. Harberg. It is a great meeting. You learn so much and get to put faces with the names of the people on the HWLSSG board. There are people who have had the surgery yeard ago and new post-ops like us.. It would be great seeing you there. If you can't come you can always join the onelist.com and get info also... All you have to do is enter vbg or HWLSSG into the group name. I have joined both. The HWLSSG is for people who had the sugery in houston and vbg is for people all around the world who have had it.. Sorry this is so long! Just wanted to let you know about it.. The groups have helped me so much!! I hope all is well with you and "Welcome to the other side".. It so nice to be a "LOSER"!!! God Bless you and your family, Kat

Hi everyone. I'm at home now and feel so much better than I did 3 days ago. Things went pretty smooth. I had surgery Monday, so that 1st nite and 2nd day (Tues.) was a little rough. Mostly I think the worst part was the drain tube in my nose. When that came out on Tues, I felt like a new person. Each day gets better & better. The 3rd day (Wed) I had my 1st drink. It was cold apple juice and it was wonderful. Got released from hosp yesterday (Thurs). It was great to sleep all nite in my own bed. No one woke me up to take my blood pressure and temp. Yea. As of yesterday I've lost 10 lbs. I'm still on liquid until next week, then I can go to soft food. You wont believe that 2 ozs fills you up. I dont have any pain, just a little discomfort around incision site. Mostly just getting up and down, like out of bed and off couch. Yesterday I got up at 5:30 am in hosp and never went back to bed or even napped all day. Stayed up til 10:30 pm last nite. This is 1st time getting on computer, thanks so much to everyone for the wonderful messages. This site is so supportive, it's amazing to me that we are strangers, yet so close. A Special THANK YOU for my angel Lisa P, she is great. I'm looking forward to doing things for her May 15, when she joins me on the lighter side. Talk later, thanks, Leah
