Ilene~~I saw your post tonight. I wanted Lap just like you did. I was mentally prepared for that surgery and not open. However when my surgeons office called to schedule me I would have had to wait two more months to get a lap date so I chose open just to get it over with!!!!! Don't get me wrong it does hurt but you recover and I would do it again a thousand times now if I had to!!! The first couple of months are the hardest but you get through them and start feeling like a new person after that. I have a good friend who had lap RNY done two months after me and she had a stricture and an obstruction. Lap surgery does have a higher rate of complications. I was thankful that my surgeon was able to see and feel my insides. Anyway I haven't had a single complication and I am wishing the same for you. Don't worry thousands of us have gone before you and paved the way. You are going to be just fine. Wendi Open RNY 9/19/02 down 117lbs
