Well Robin, the time is winding down!!! 6 days for you to go, and I am just as excited as you are. I owe you a lot for leading me the way to WLS, and I don't know how I'll repay you. Don't forget, Faith without works is dead. You have the Faith that this will work, but WE have got to work towards our goal. I'll be right beside you every step of the way. When you move your left foot, I'll be moving my right foot. You've got a sister in WLS, and in the Lord!!!! Stay strong, and all is gonna be okay!! Just give it to the Man upstairs, and put it in his Hands!!!! Love Ya Sis!!!!

I went to give my second unit of blood yesterday. I wasn't a good experience. The technician was very rude! Reading my orders she said, "Oh, you are having that stomach stapling thing...that's getting to be really popular isn't it?" I just ignored her. Then when it was time to take my blood pressure she said, "I probably need the big cuff for you, hold on while I get it" I told her that that last technician was able to take my blood pressure just fine with the "normal" size cuff. She put it on my arm and said. "Boy, I can't believe it, it fits" and that point I wanted to slap her...but I remembered she still had to put the needle in my arm so I bit my tongue. She was very rough and jammed the needle in my arm. Thanks to her I have a great big bruise, which I have never had when giving blood in the past. So if you ever go to the INOVA Blood Donor Center in Centreville be sure not to have Rebecca take your blood. See if Tessie or Raj are available, they were very nice and patient and even took a picture of me giving blood to be used on my future WLS website. 7 MORE DAYS...UUUUGHHHH!

Robin - Thanks for putting in the test details! I get to start those soon and it'll be nice to have an idea what the Dr. is talking about when he zips through the names of all the poking and prodding they're gonna do. Good luck next week!

I went to my first Staple Club Meeting last night. The conference room was packed with people who were years, months, weeks and days post-op. There were also several people that were pre-op or thinking about having the surgery and a number of people who were there to support a friend or a loved one. My parents were there with me. My father put himself on the hot seat a few times...rememeber he can't understand why overweight people lack the "self-control" to stay on a diet. My mother had the opportunity to see first had the results of WLS...and I must say, she was impressed. She still thinks that I am "not that big" and should try to lose the weight on my own, but realizes that I have made a decision that will change my life. We both pray that the change will be for the better.

I would like to thank, my angel, Michelle Mann. She's have been a dear friend over these last few months...putting up with my endless questions and helping deal with all these crazy emotions that go with considering WLS. I LOVE YOU MAN!!!

9 days!!! Oh boy, I can't believe it. I am going to my first Staple Club Meeting (support group) tonight. My parents are going with me, Dr. Anez' suggestion....and a good one. My mother is still concerned about the surgery, just because it is MAJOR surgery and with that comes the risks. However, she respects my decision to have WLS, my father is a different story. I have told him this may be something we have to agree to disagree on.

Hi Robin, I had my third visit with Sally on Friday the 17th my surgery is March 22 at 11:00a.m. at fairoaks hospital, I like you learn better if I can see what the amount looks like, and I was impressed with the small platic jar she refered to as my new tummy. I have read and reread the articles she gave me that day, and I know I am ready, where will you be having your surgery? Good luck and God bless Ann

12 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!! I met with Sally, the nutritionist, for the second time today. We went over what I will be eating the first 7 weeks. She has crackers, cheese, peanut butter, margarine, jelly, milk, peas, chicken and mash potatoes all made out of plastic! I am a visual learner so it was great to see how much 2oz (the size of my new tummy) really is. She also gave me alot of reading material and I bought a great book from her called "Living a Lighter Lifestyle: A Guide to Successful Weight Loss and Maintenance Following Gastroplasty of Gastric Bypass" by Gaye Andrews. It is a great book to read before surgery and I plan to share it with my family so they can better understand the procedure and aftercare required to be successful.

I was so upset to hear about Jimmy's passing, however I am also very thankful and gratefully I found this wonderful family of caring and loving people. I know that I will be able to count on all of you to help me make it down this new road. God Bless you Jimmy!

I was at the hopital at 7:45am this morning for more tests. I was scheduled to have my Gall Bladder Sonogram, Chest X-ray and Upper GI and I did. They also did my blood work, EKG and urinalysis today so I don't have to go back next Wednesday....cool! The nurse that did my EKG had WLS in December and Dr. Anez was her surgeon, she was very nice and gave me some great advise. I also had my camera with me and had each person administering the tests take a picutre of me. The photos will be used for my up and coming website. The Gall Bladder Sonogram- no big deal, you take off your clothes and put on a gown. The room with the sono equipment is nice and dim. The technician put some gell on my tummy (it was warm...they keep it heated!) and then rolled a probe all around my tummy, stopping to take pictures. The Chest X-ray- no big deal. Just a bunch of turning and holding your breath. The Upper GI- hated it! You have to drink 2 BIG cups of BARIUM....YUCK, the technican said it tastes like a bland milkshake...yeah right, try a 5 pound cup of liquid chalk!! I got the first cup down, now problem, I was half way through the second cup when I felt like I was going to EARL! She told me that I probably had had enough to take the x-rays....it was going to have to be enough. I only had to drink a little more for the esophogus (spelling?) test and that was that. The Blood Test- a piece of cake. a little prick and the tech filled up 3 small tubes with blood. The Urine Test- easy....you wash your hands, wipe yourself twice with wipes, pee a little in the toilet and then fill the cup 1/2 way and then finish peeing in the toliet. Tonight I am going to try and give blood again, I have been taking my iron and eating red meat so I hope my count is high enough to give.
