Hi Suzi: I had my Rny surgery in July 22, 2002 and I had a infection late in the recovery process and had to wait for 2 months for my insision to heal but I understand that people under 300 lbs dont usually go through this unless they dont take care of themselves and follow the drs. orders. I didnt have any nasia and vomiting until my 4th month when I began adding new foods to my diet. I still dont have that much nasia or vomiting. I feel great physically but mentaly and emotionaly I really had a hard time. I freeze to death now because of hormonal and loosing weight to fast. I cant wait until spring to be able to warm up. Other than these I have had no problems with complications. I hope this helps. please writeme at [email protected] Sheryl OPEN RNY July 22, 2002 516/453/360/160

Suzi, Rejoice in those moments when you know that YES this is going to happen for me. Sometimes we deprive ourselves of those little joys that make life interesting. Best of wishes to you!! KimmieTN

suzi s I would love to be your angel. I live in Namp, can make speedy trips to St. Lukes. I spent a year in the hopsital with my girl friend. She was lucky, I was her "300 Guardian Angel" I took such good care of her,she came through everything. I would be Honored, but you may already have some one... just let me know.

Suzi s I am thinking about going to see Doctor Oakley... I will have to be self pay, our insurance won't pay for anything, Tell me, are there support groups that people like me can attend??? I want some one I can see to talk with. Get others opionions about the surgery. I know that Dr, Ediger has a group, but I don't care to attend his. I would like to be there for you when you have your surgery, I make a great bedside nurse. Lots of experience. Betty

Hi Suzi! Like you, I was a self-pay (damn exclusions!!!) and to keep my expenses down, my doc only recommended testing for areas that would be directly effected by my lap RNY. I had a chest x-ray done, an EKG, an abdominal ultrasound, a full blood write-up and a lung capacity test done. Within 30 days to my surgery, I had to have a physical as well as another blood work up done. My only co-morbidities are a slight case of asthma and a slight hypothyroid condition. If you don't have any, they might treat you differently. I hope this helps you some and if you have any other questions, please contact me.

SUZI~~ Some of my pre-op tests were done ahead of time (but, they also don't want some of them done TOO soon) A lot of my pre-op tests were done just days before surgery. Contact your surgeon and ask for a list of pre-op tests that are required. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined. Dream what you want to dream. Go where you want to go. Be what you want to be because you have only one life and only one chance to do all the things you want to!!
