It's been so long

Jun 19, 2014

I haven't posted on here in quite some time. This September makes 2 years post op. Currently 67lbs. away from my goal weight. Every day is a new journey of discovery and getting to know the new me. I'm hoping that by my wedding anniversary (yes I finally got married October 19, 2013) I'll reach my goal weight. I have been doing cardio at least 4 times a week and strength training. Watching calories, I try to stay at 1200 calories, focusing on protein. I bought my first pair of size 14 pants a month or so ago. I surprisingly got into them and that was a big improvement for myself. I will always see myself as the almost 350lb. person I once was. I still have improvement to make and hopefully within time I will finally be pregnant with #2.

Over a year Post Op

Dec 07, 2013

So this month marks 16 months post op and honestly today I just feel like a complete FAILURE! I don't feel like I have lost enough and there are times where I feel like I can eat and eat. There are days where I feel like having this surgery and going through all the pain I did, was just a complete WASTE! I don't know how I can get myself to lose more or jump back on the wagon of losing big chunks like I was before. My weight loss has slowed down greatly. I'm lucky if I lose 2-3 lbs a month. What is wrong with me?! I think after the holidays I need to do the 5 day pouch test and get myself back into what I was doing just after surgery. I guess getting comfortable with your new self and kind of going back to your old ways is not good. I have come so far, I can't let this be the end of it all. Anyone ever felt like this? Any advice?!

It's been a while

Mar 01, 2013

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while but here I am finally updating, lol. Well let's see today 3/1/13 I went for an upper scope since I have been having like a choking sensation in my throat, and even at times it feels like something is stuck there. I was super nervous to have it done, but honestly it wasn't that bad and I don't remember anything. Well the doctor said my pouch looked great, that the gastric bypass doctor did an excellent job on it, everything look fine, except he found a polyp on my esophagus and he removed it so he could do a biopsy on it. I don't know how big it was because he couldn't take pictures since the computer was having issues. I can say since I had it done just about 8 hours ago I don't have that sensation anymore, I mean it's there but very faintly so I'm hoping that was the problem and I won't have anymore issues. On another note I went to my GP on 2/26/13 and I weighed 255lbs I was so excited and proud of myself. Not too much going on really, besides me and the hubby need to go get some updated blood work done to see how our levels are, but other than that we are doing great. Since we both are done a good amount of weight we decided we would take our son on our first family vacation so that should be really fun! I will update more when I can.

holidays

Dec 25, 2012

I SERIOUSLY HATE THE HOLIDAYS AND ALL THE FOOD AROUND ME AND THIS DAMN SCALE IS DEPRESSING ME! UGH I WAS SO EXCITED TO KNOW I HIT 270LBS WHICH I HAVEN'T WEIGHED IN 6 YEARS AND NOW THE SCALE WANTS TO PLAY TRICKS ON ME. BEEN EATING THE WRONG THINGS THIS PAST WEEK TODAY I PUT A STOP TO IT, I HAVE TO SAY NO AND DO WHATS RIGHT. OF COURSE IT DOESN'T HELP WHEN EVERYONE KEEPS TELLING ME HOW MY HUSBAND HAS LOST MORE THAN ME AND IS "BEATING" ME ON THE WEIGHT JOURNEY. HE SERIOUSLY IS LIKE 5 POUNDS HEAVIER THAN ME NOW!! I THINK THE FACT I TAKE THYROID MEDICINE DOESN'T HELP WITH MY WEIGHT LOSS. UGH *BIG SIGH* I GOTTA JUST KEEP MY HEAD UP. HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GOOD HOLIDAY. BRING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH A BANG! TILL NEXT TIME..

Ok, so I have been a bit off these past few days with so much holiday shopping and getting things together for the upcoming holiday, my eating has kind of been a bit on the shitty side lol. So starting tomorrow, I plan on getting back on track, PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN. Got some tuna stocked up and I need to start taking in more fluids and get back to drinking my shakes. Ugh Come on Amy you can do it!

Magical scale/update

Nov 25, 2012

So I usually don't get excited about scales and lately the digital scales are seriously getting on my last nerve. I have always been well over the weight limit for those dinky dial scales. Well I kid you not, I was at wal-mart with the hubby and decided, let's see if I fit on this scale, and sure enough I did...BUT to my surprise the scale didn't go around twice!! It weighed me in at 288lbs. Now either I'm seeing things or the scale is actually telling the truth. I'm so tempted to go back and buy one since it was only $11. So no need for a bulky digital scale. If that's the case and I really am UNDER 290lbs I feel amazing, still in shock, but amazing! Totally going to go off subject, but I haven't been on much to update blogs. So here it goes, thanksgiving wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had some turkey and a bite of each side, but honestly the sick feeling afterwards of eating it, made me not even crave it afterwards. I get so sick, nothing like being at your Father's for dinner and you're in the bathroom getting sick. Took lots of pictures as well, and WOW can you tell the difference from before surgery until now, I even posted up a picture of it. It's things like the picture and the scale that make me realize this surgery IS working even if it's going slow or at least it is to me. I guess after being big all your life you just build up this mentality that you will NEVER lose weight and will always be big, surgery or not ya know. Just before Thanksgiving though, my doctor had put me on predisone for my psoriasis since it's so inflammed, well my normal reaction occured to the medicine. I wanted to eat, and it had to be salty. So even though it was bad of me, I ate some pringles to help those cravings I did however control how much. So this month makes it 2 months post op and it feels like we had it a lifetime ago, I guess from all the dramatic changes maybe?! I have been doing alot of trial and error on foods to see if my body can tolerate it or not, and trust me I learn my lesson if it comes back up. Sugar is not my friend even if it's in small amounts, I get bad dumping, which my dumping consists of a racing heart, sweats, hotness, and the sensation of feeling dizzy, then I eventaully have to throw up what I can. So yes this is a big update but I felt the need to get it all out since I don't update as much as I should, I want to be years out coming back to this blog and knowing where I was at this point and time in my journey, ya know?! Until next time...take care!

2 month check in

Nov 17, 2012

Well we went for our 2 month post op check up on thursday, 11/15/12, I weighed in at 293lbs. So when I started with the clinic I weighed 339lbs. and day of surgery I was 328lbs. Doctor said I'm doing excellent, I look real good, she can tell how much upper half of my body is slimming down quickly. Hubby was down to 305lbs. from his starting weight of 373lbs. He's losing quicker, but Maria said that is typical of males. I was afraid I wasn't losing quickly enough, but they reassured me I'm right on track! So I'm quite pleased with myself and the hubby. Hope everyone else is doing well. By the way, inches are coming off faster than the pounds, but all part of the process.

frustrating!

Nov 04, 2012

Where do I begin....Well in 16 days I will be 2 months POST OP, and I'm only 32lbs down, my hubby who had surgery the same day is losing quicker and is about 50lbs down, I know men lose quicker, but honestly I just feel like I'm doing something wrong. Why am I not losing? I try to focus on eating proteins before anything, granted I'm not drinking 64 of liquids, but I try hard. I don't know where anyone else stands on their weight loss from the September 2012 surgery forum. My hubby keeps telling me not to focus on what the scale says, but it's kind of hard why he's over here melting away and I'm over here at another stall. Makes no sense and like I said it's SO frustrating coolSo if anyone reads this....where are you all at in weight loss?

month out

Oct 22, 2012

Well as of 9/20/12 I am officially one month out. I'm down 30lbs. Officially under the 300lb mark. Proud of myself. Still having a hard time getting the protein shakes down. Not much to add really, kind of in a blah mood. I will update more later.

2 week post op!

Oct 05, 2012

Well yesterday (10/4/12) we were officially 2 weeks post op. We went for our check up at the bariatric clinic and saw the nutritionist. We are both down 20lbs! Today we started our list of daily vitamins. Everything went down good, liquid calcium and B12, the only thing that is gross,  is the centrum chewables. Reminds me of nasty prenatals. Trying to get over this cold of mine, seems like it's spreading in the house lol. We are feeling pretty good. Maria the NP said we can start back at the gym this week, on the treadmill, and light weights, just know our limits, when we know we have had enough, just stop. Next week we can start with the pool again and the bikes. So little by little we are getting back into the swing of things. All of our incisions are healing nicely, you can barely see them. I'm not going to sit here and lie and say it's all peachy after surgery, because honestly, we have had moments where we both have stopped, looked at each other, and said "What did we get ourselves into." I have cried numerous times since after surgery it is ALOT to take in, no matter how much you prepare yourself, you will break down eventually. But at the end of the day, we both know what we did was right and we will be healthy and have a better future for us and our children. I will update some more later, we have another check-up in a month.
