My story starts a long time ago. In high school, I thought I was fat at 180#. I had very low self esteem and then meeting the wrong guy made it even worse. I had my first baby at 19, got married to my first husband, had a second baby at 21 and lived my life. Work, family, kids...my first marriage ended when my ex-husband left me for my best friend at which time I fell into a deep depression. Two good things came out of that, I lost 66 pounds and went from 350 to 286 at which time I thought I was looking pretty good. The 2nd was that I met my 2nd husband Stevie and the love of my life. He loves me for who I am, big, little, blonde, brunette, tall, short and he just wants me to be healthy. Over the past 10 years I have gained the sixty six pounds back along with 12 different medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, menopause, arthritis, and other illnesses and ailments to many to mention. I lost both of my parents at very young ages. My dad passed when I was 21 of a massive heart attack at the young age of 47 and lost my mom when I was 31 from Pancreatic Cancer at the young age of 55. My only brother (who is also a diabetic) started having problems with his kidneys and as of two weeks ago, is now on dialysis due to complete kidney failure. He asked me to go to a seminar on Bariatric surgery and I decided if I didn't do something NOW, I could be him in two years. I started looking into Bariatric surgery only to be told that our insurance doesn't cover it. My husband and I decided that my health was what was most important and decided we needed to pay for it ourselves. So I have started my journey, found a surgeon, have been given a surgery date and now the waiting begins. I have a little over three months until surgery and am anxiously counting the days. I think it's very appropriate that my pre-op diet needs to start on New Years Day. My new saying and philosophy is "A new year, A new ME!".
