Stephen Madry

"Dr. Madry is awesome. I had a LBL w/ Medial thigh lift on 2/12/07 and can't be happier. Dr. Madry is very thorough and will take the time to answer all your questions. He'll explain what he can do for you and what you can realistically expect. His bedside manner is great. He's so enthustiastic that you can't help but feel at ease with him."

"I mix a scoop of Unjury with Chocolate Carb Countdown and it tastes GREAT! Have also used the unflavored and vanilla. All are good."

James M. Kane Jr.

"Dr. Kane Jr. is a very nice man and he's been doing this surgery for quite a while with much success. (His father, who is also in the practice has been doing this surgery for 30+ years.) Follow up care has been good. Usually get a call back from Judy, Dr. Kane's nurse, within an hour of my call. Wish the whole office was like that (see below). He was honest that I would probably lose weight slower than many people because I'm a lightweight and have hypothroidism, but said I should still be successful in obtaining my weight loss goal (150ish). My Surgeon Group, Suburban Surgical Care Specialists (SSCS) used to use a group called Weight for Life (WFL) until the end of 2003 to get their patients approved by their insurance companies. I was approved with the first letter in November 2003, however, when SSCS stopped using WFL, first, I wasn't told about this until March 2004 when I called SSCS to try to get a surgery date and second, getting a hold of them was very difficult as only one person dealt with this. When I finally got a call back (after me making several calls) they told me that they resubmitted the approval to my insurance in late February since they no longer go through WFL. That took another 3 weeks and confused my insurance company since they had already approved them. I went to SSCS's mandatory October informational seminar and they made no mention of this. It would have been nice if they were up front about it as I was really hoping to have my surgery in January or February, but am now scheduled for April 27th. Overall, SSCS's main downfall is returning patient calls. It took over 3 weeks for them to call me back from the first time I called them to get a surgery date set up. I had to do a psych. visit prior to them writing the letter, so that was out of the way early."

Alexian Brothers Medical Center (COE)

"The staff on 6 East was excellent. I loved my day nurse, Laura, and day PCT, Luann. They were truly great and sensitive to my needs. Plus, they were very motivating. The only complaint I have is the way they manage their patients before surgery. My surgery was originally scheduled for 11:30, and then was moved to 1:30 because another case took longer than expected (that didn't bother me). At 1:30 they came and moved me from Day Surgery (family allowed) to Pre-Op holding (no family allowed). I didn't end up going in for surgery until 4:30 and don't understand why I couldn't have stayed in Day Surgery until closer to my surgery. I could have spent that time with my family instead of having them wonder what was going on. At 2:30, I asked if they told my family that I hadn't gone in yet, and when they said "no", I asked them to call. Simple courtesy would state that they should keep the family up to speed on what's going on instead of leaving them in limbo and me having to request that they let them know I’ve been delayed again. As they were wheeling me in at 4:30, I again requested that they call my family to let them know I was going in and heard them making the call."
