Hello... my name is Daniela I'm 6ft 273lbs
I was never really an over weight kid until i turned 10 or so and ever since then my weight never stopped going up. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 12 and continued to have weight issues even though i was very active. I have never been an over eater and stayed active by playing basketball and soccer all through high school. My doctors always told me that i was healthy but as far as i know being over weight isn't and has never been healthy. My freshman year of high school i started to have back problems but they were never very severe until i graduated. When i was 19 i finally got an MRI and the doctors found that i ruptured my L5S1 disc and had to undergo surgery and i was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. Basically what that means is that i have a genetic condition that is causing 3 discs in my back to slowly degenerate,and due to being over weight the degeneration is more rapid. I recovered very well from the surgery but less than 2 years later i re-ruptured the same disc again. in 2008 i had surgery a second time and once again less than a year later i re-ruptured the same disc. Now because i can not work out very much without being in extreme pain i have had a very difficult time losing weight. Because i dont have much activity i have slowly gained more and more weight. Doctors told me that if i lose a large amount of weight i could completely stop the degeneration, prevent another back surgery, and cure my PCOS. About a year ago i decided that i wanted to undergo bariatric surgery to aid in my weight loss. I did everything right and submitted everything to my insurance company, but all my appeals were denied due to "not having a BMI over 35 for 5+ years." As a last resort i am going to have surgery in India march 2010!!! Ive decided to have the VSG because i think that i could lose a large amount of weight and dont want all the complications. I am hoping to get to a healthy weight eliminate my PCOS and back problems...
