"I had a nice large private room on the 7th floor where most of the bariatric patients are placed. They really helped my husband out by finding him a bed to sleep in. I however did not get the special bariatric bed that Dr. Shina likes for his patients. I have mixed views on the staff. I liked most of my nurses but only saw them for pain medication, etc. and very briefly. I found one or two to be very patronising. If I had a hard time getting out of this conventional bed, they weren't sensitive and gave me few instructions on how to move, how to manage my pain, how to turn, etc. Most of the aides had attitudes, were not well trained or were lazy. I was there 5 days and only 1 aide voluntarily gave me a bath. One aide I had for several shifts just wanted to bring me a pan of water and some towels. I actually confronted her about it on my last day there and they gave me another aide but my husband had already helped me with yet another bath. One thing the aides were really good about was bringing me ice chips. Thank God for that at least. My surgeon says he chooses this hospital because of the excellence of the surgical nurses. "
"This review is based on the one on one nutritional consult I had with her that my insurance requires. She really wasn't specific about my post op diet. I don't feel very prepared. I hope she's more informative in the class I have before surgery. I felt like she's there to be a "saleswoman" for RightWeigh, to market their products, such as protein powders and their supervised diet programs for those who are turned down for surgery by their insurance."
