The WLC just called me with a date. Wednesday August 29, 2012.  O...M...G....!!!!

I'm sooo nervous but excited too.  I start the Optifast on Wednesday August 8 (while on vacation but oh well).

My surgeon is going to be Dr. Mamarzza. Anyone else going in that day???

So I met the surgeon today.  Dr. Yelle. Nice man.  I was in and out of there fairly quickly as I didn't have alot of questions and my health is good so I don't need any other tests.

He says I will get a call in about a week to book my surgery date and I will be having surgery within 8 weeks. So Cool.

I have been battling a massive wasp nest in the brick of my house this week and called the exterminator who came yesterday. So when I went to buy my Optifast this morning I discovered that I had forgotten to put my credit card back in my wallet so I couldn't buy it.     

When the hubby got home we went and got the Optifast. No biggie.

I see the surgeon on Tuesday July 31. That's 15 days from now.  They tell me I will be picking up my Optifast that day.  So....it's the hottest freaking summer in ages. Our central A/C broke at the beginning of last summer and we thought it was hot then.  It was a balmy 98F in the house one day last week.  I think I lost weight just from the humidity (small consolation).

I need a couple of things but because I might be having surgery soon I just can't bring myself to buy them. Like underwear.  I could use some new gitch.  But, I'm not buying any because (1) they are not cheap for us bountiful women, and (2) I can't bring myself to buy something I'm not going to wear for very long.  Same goes for summer clothes.  I have only so many summer clothes to wear. Clothes are expensive so I'm not buying anything this year.  But I could use a few things. Like a 2nd pair of shorts.  I have some summer dresses so I live in them.  I'm looking very forward to when I can buy some clothes because what I have doesn't fit anymore because it is too big. And a bra....my kingdom for a bra.  But nope, I'm not buying one.  I've been to Value Village but the selection for big and beautiful is quite sparse.  And I don't fancy a velor lounge dress with a zipper down the front.  Imagine!

What I am going to buy is the stuff I'm going to need right after surgery, like my vitamins, calcium, and protein powder/shakes. THAT I have no problem spending $$$ on.

If you have read my history you know I have severe osteo-arthritis in both knees AND that I've been off my pain meds since April 16 as directed by the Nurse.  It has not been fun.  I'm in constant pain, standing takes it's toll and walking is extremely painful.  But it's for the greater good right?  Right?

I've taken solace in the fact that next year at this time I may be able to manage the pain because alot of weight will be gone.  I find myself saying quite often "this time next year..." a lot.  "This time next year I won't need the walker. This time next year I will be able to wear that.  This time next year I will be able to walk better."

The hot and humid weather, which I love, is not my friend this year, but this time next year.... I like dreaming it is what is getting me through the wait time.

I called the WLC this morning and left a message saying I was returning their call.  They just called me back to book my Education Class for July 11 and the date to meet the surgeon on July 31.  I am going to meet Dr. Yelle.  The receptionist also told me that I will probably be buying my Optifast on the 31st.  GLEE!!!!!! 

OMG....it really might happen this summer!!

So this always, always happens.  I'm out...the clinic calls.  I get the message AFTER the clinic closes.

Messages says they want to book my next series of appointments. As far as I am aware all I have left is the Education Class and Meet the Surgeon then book my surgery date.   I can't wait to call them in the morning!! SQUEEEEE!!!!!!!

Ok, so both appointments this morning. I was there from 8:30 - 11:00 am.  Both appointments went great! Neither of them need to see me for a follow-up appointment, nor do I need to see someone else.  So cool.

Now I just have to wait for them to call me for an Education Class and to meet the surgeon.  Dietician said I could be finished everything and done surgery in as little as 3 months!!!! WOOT!!   Here's hoping!!
