I am a 55 (well, almost  - on 2/19) year old jewish woman looking into Gastric Sleeve Surgery as early as March 1 2011.  I am a retired clinical social worker so insight is important to me.  My weekly schedule prevents attending the support group near me so I am joining this site to be able to join with others who have had the gastric sleeve and gain insight into what is has been like for others and what it might be like for me.

I have been on every diet know to man/woman.  I have lost as much as 92 pounds on JC and been on a Dr. monitored protein shake diet as well.  Nothing lasts and the weight always returns.   Everything I have read lately says dieting doesn't work.  I am ready to give up dieting for a smaller stomach and an internal constraint with which I can not really negotiate.

My goal is to lose the weight so I will feel better in my body and about myself.  I really want to travel more and not feel constricted by my weight.  Next goal is Venice in the Fall.

I am trying to figure out how much I will be able to eat and how that will feel emotionally for the rest of my life.  This feels huge and currently so do I.  I am also struggling with who to tell and when.  So far I have only told a few close friends plus those who are part of my healing circle.

Please join me in this journey.
