3 weeks out - 23lbs gone

Apr 24, 2011

It was a harder week but overall good.  Lost another 3 lbs, made it through Passover and had a few really low energy days.  I made it through my firswt two sit down meals which happened to be Passover.  Had small amounts of the ritual foods and did well.  Had planned to eat gefilte fish and Matzoh Ball soup and those both worked out well.  Even had some horseradish and charoset with a teeny bit of Matzoh and that worked well.  Had little bits of dessert both nights and felt fine eating.

Oddly, it seems when the barometer goes down so do I on these limited calories.  I eat about 700 calories on Friday trying to make it through a day where I felt very nauseous and light-headed.  Could barely lift my head off the pillow most of the morning and stayed in my chair most of the rest of the day.  Did my best to eat real foods in between the protein shakes. Felt a little better yesterday and much better today - more like I had been feeling.

Overall, laying low and getting a bit cabin-feverish.  But have lost 23 lbs and am very pleased with  this.

As they say:  Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

2 weeks post op > - 20 lbS

Apr 18, 2011

Well, I am two weeks post-op and dying to talk to others who are going thru this process.  I am very light-headed and end up staying at home a lot.  I can't even imagine if I had to go to work what it would be like energy-wise.  I started soft foods on Friday after the go ahead from the Program Director at the hospital.  I don't think any one every really explained the post op part and how few calories I would be functioning on, or should I say trying to function on.

Tonight is a big holiday meal - Passover.  I have a plan but it will be weird to be at the table while others are eating so many ethnic favorites that I can not enjoy.  I will have some gefilte fish and matzoh ball soup. And am really looking forward to those.  I always make the haroset and this year had to invite in tasters cause I can't have this yet.  I could probably do OK with the nuts and apples and cinnamon but not the wine and honey in it.
