Hi. I'm Vickie. 33 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Paul, for almost 13 years. Together we have 3 beautiful boys. Brian is 11, Joshua is 9 and Seth is 7.

I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. As a kid I, like most heavy children, were teased ruthlessly about it. When I was in high school I was heavy, but because I was tall, I "hid" my weight well. I was married young and Paul and I started our family pretty early as well. I struggled to lose the weight from my first son. Though I tried and tried, I could only drop about half of what I put on. With the next to pregnancies I had the same issue. I could only drop half of what I put on.

A few years ago I started hearing more and more about gastric bypass and had started looking into it. It wasn't until I turned 32 that I really took a good long look at myself. I don't have high blood pressure, I don't have diabetes, heart problems or anything normally related to being heavy......Yet.  Which is the key word here. The only problem I had was the aches and pains to having the extra weight. I feel I am rather lucky in that fact. A lot of people I've met since start my journey hasn't been so lucky.

I had gone into my doctors one day because I start suffering from constant heart burn.. When the doctor came in and marked on my chart morbidly obese, that's went it it me. I have got to do something now or I won't be around long enough to celebrate my 20th anniversary with my husband or watch my children grow up and have children of their own.

So.. Here I am today. 6 months along in my new journey with my surgery date scheduled for June 29th.
