I'm 49 years old, and I've been more or less overweight for most of my adult life. I was very thin and sickly as a child. I imagine that's where some of my unhealthy eating habits originated. I was always being encouraged to eat more. Thr trouble is, once I hit puberty, my metabolism changed, and I began to put on weight.
In my late teens, I acheived my lowest weight, 140 pounds. I managed to stay within 20 pounds of that as I hit my 20's. After I met my then-fiancé, now-husband, my weight ballooned to over 200 pounds. Ever since then, it's been a roller coaster ride - up, down, up, down... My highest weight was 275, back around 2006 or so.
I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomypathy March 1998. I found out I had type II diabetes in 2002. I have a weak leg as the result of a traffic accident in 1988.
I am currently seeking weight loss surgery. I have already had my first meeting with my surgeon, Dr. Baggs (Kaiser-Richmond). I still have my sleep apnea test, as well as blood work. My orientation is in Vacaville on 10/20/2009. At present, I weigh about 246 pounds. My goal weight is 243, but I think the doctor was counting from when I first began to seek bariatric surgery, which was in the mid-250s.
