Ice storm part two

Jan 06, 2009

I'm SO over this winter.  Home today with the kids. No school. They're actually being really good. Life in genersl is fabulous. I love this gastric bypass thing. I eat my tiny meals throughout the day and am never hungry.  It's so simple and easy to do.  eating more complex food every day...chili, soups, omelets, pasta.....sweet potato french fries (baked of course).  I'm down 35 pounds in a month since surgery.  It's wonderful.  I'm thinking of going back to the gym.  My energy is back.  I hope all is well with all of you.

Happy New Year!!!

Dec 31, 2008

Well....three weeks and 2 days post op.  Down 31 pounds and loving life.  I still don't have all my stamina back, but I feel great.  Soft foods are going well.  I have to remind myself to eat. I'm still never hungry.  But yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, soup, chili....alll going down very well.  I have to eat very slowly...or it backs up and bad things happen (vomitting). It's happened three times so far.  But, I'm really looking forward to 2009. happy New Year all!

Stomach bug

Dec 22, 2008

Ugh! I just started mushy food and now I've got a stomach bug. Both my kids have had it,so I know that's what it is.  Living on the toilet...I know TMI!  But all in all ....things are good. I never thought I'd say this, but food means NOTHING to me anymore. It's simply a way to fuel my body now.  Coming from someone whose had a long lastging love affair with food....that's a very nice feeling. Hope you are all well. Talk soon.....Chris

20 pounds in 10 days!

Dec 18, 2008

Wow! I went for my two week check today...only it was only 10 days post op.  Allof my incisions are healed, I'm pain free, and down 20 pounds. Can't beat that!  I'm getting my four shakes per day in along with all my water, some jello and an occassional chicken broth. It's hard to feel bad for yourself or deprived when the scale moves evrey day. This is the best thing I've ever done. I hope everyone's journey goes as smoothly as mine has.  Next week I get to start incorporating mushed up fruits, veggies and protein.  Life is good. I'll post again soon.

Protein Shake hell!!!!

Dec 14, 2008

So.....I got so sick of trying to choke down those awful protein shakes....I decided to cheat. Just a little. I put some ice in ablender, cut up a half of a banana and topped it off with my chocolate sheke. I whipped it up and the banana is just enough to mask that protein flavor...you know what I'm talking about. So, I'm not supposed to be introducing bananas until next week...but oh well.  Whatever works.  Keep you posted.

Home Sweet Home

Dec 13, 2008

Well....I got discharged from the hospital just in time for the ice storm. We lost power for 24 hours. I had a houseful of people for a long time. I'm the only one in my family with a fireplace. Oh joy!  Feeling pretty good. Getting everything in that I need. Just wish I could get my strength back. I can do laot, but I get really tired and have to take a nap. I guess it's to be expected 5 days after surgery.  Getting a little bored with the same old same old flavors, but I'm sticking to it to the letter. It'll be fun to move onto stage three. For those of you on other programs, stage three for me is mushed up food like bananas, chicken, masked potatoes. So looking forward to that.. I have to say, I haven't felt hungry once since the surgery.  So that's a great thing. I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

Going Home!!!

Dec 10, 2008

I'm finally getting out of here. I never dreamed I'd spend three days in the hospital for this, but it hasn't been all bad. I feel like new today. can't wait to get home to my little family and start my new life!  Keep you posted!

Day three post-op

Dec 10, 2008

I'm still at the Brigham.  I was ready to go home and I decided to spike a temp.  My doctor told me that if I had had any other other type of surgery, I'd be able to go home.  But they're very careful with us.  But all in all, I can't complain. The nurses here a W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!!!!!  Like I said in my earlier post, the floor itself is kind of so so, but the nurses more than make up for it.  They just brought me my dinner tray. It consists of Crystal Light, Chicken Broth, jello and a protein shake, There's no way I'm getting all that in...but the dietician said to have as much as I can and call it a day. The key is to get enough fluid and protein in...so I guess I'll start with the shake.  But anyone out there thinking of having this done.  Do it.  I did not feel great yesterday by any means. I actually had moments of thinking "oh my gosh...what have I done to myself?" But I feel so much better today and I'm so glad to be on this journey.  I'll keep you all updated.  Ciao for now. Christine

All done!

Dec 09, 2008

Hadinnerd surgery yesterday at noon. I'm up and about in the hospital. Brought my laptop.  They have wifi here.  It's about the only good thing I can say about the Brigham. Actaully, the nurses are awesome but the place is a DUMP!  I feel tired, not sore, but nauseous.  One Ml of water feels like a steak dinner.

This is it!

Dec 07, 2008

It's 5:50 am and I'm all dressed, packed and waiting for hubby to get in the shower. Then we'll wake the kids up and get them off to their various places. I slept like a baby last night.  I'm a little tense this morning, but it's more about getting there on time than anything else. Wish me luck, say a little prayer and I'll see you all on the losing side.  xoxox Chris
