4 months post-op

Nov 13, 2009

Ok, it's been 4 months. I'm down to 186 pounds. I'm in a size 14 jeans, mostly if the jeans have some stretch. However, I do have one pair of Levi's that aren't stretch and they fit ok. Maybe a little tight. I'm also in a size large shirt. I'm happy. I'm losing about 1-2 pounds a week. However, I just switched to the Mirena from the Depo shot, but it will take a little time for it all to be out of my system. That might speed up my weight loss a little. Who knows. I'm just happy with how it's going now.

3 month Surgiversery

Oct 12, 2009

OK, I am now offically 3 months pos-DS surgery. I am so happy right now. My weight loss is slow, but I've lost 46 pounds so far and only have 60 to goal. I wonder if the weight loss with going to stay on the same schedule, a pound one week and two pounds the next. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'm going to the gym, so that might keep it moving.

I'll be posting pictures soon. Probably tonight.

Brock's Low Carb Pizza

Sep 26, 2009

I made the low carb pizza from the receipe that Brock had given Lori. I followed the instructions exactly, but the crust came out soggy after putting the tomato sauce on and other toppings (ground beef 90/10, and more cheese). What did I do wrong?

Wooo Hoo

Sep 23, 2009

I think I've broken through the plateau. I weighed myself yesterday and I'm down another 4.8 pounds. Boy am I happy.

However, I've had a rough two days. My job had a mandatory meeting downtown, which they were providing lunch for. Now you know that I, being a 9 week post op, can't and won't eat bread of any kind. I have been sticking to eating 90% protein at each meal and sometimes 100%. Well, for the last two days their idea of lunch for me was a sandwich, fruit, cookies, and chips. PLEASE!!!!! I've tried telling them that I can't eat that, but their response was to just eat the meat. Barely even 3 ounces of meat in there little lone 5 ounces since there is nothing else in the lunch that I can eat. So I am doing what I can and thanking GOD that I thought to double my protein shake because I figured it'd be hard for me to refill. So, I brought with me a new shaker that I got from the Vitamin Shoppe that also has a thing that you put in the freezer and then in the shaker to keep your drink cold. So, that is 72 grams in the shake that I can suck on all day and for breakfast a protein bar with 13-15grams of protein in it. However, I just don't feel very supported from a group of people that work for an insurance company and are either nurse or social workers. Go figure.

However, I am not going to let that get me down because I am still doing good and back on track.

Offically 2 months post-op DS

Sep 15, 2009

Ok, I am offically 2 months post-op DS and I weighed myself this morning. The last time I weighed myself was a little over a week ago and I was 208.4. Today I was 206.4, so I am down another 2 pounds. Let's just hope that it stays off. I think I'm losing in inches even though the weight on the scale hasn't changed. Does that make sense?

I am so heartliy sick of chicken. It seems that's all I eat. So, last night I made a steak, which was pretty good. Tonight I am making a lean ground pork meatball with tomato sauce. My daughter can have the pasta with it. I don't need no stinking pasta...LOL. However, I've also gone back to strickly weighing my food for meals. That way I know I'm not going over. However, it's still hard to eat the amount that I'm supposed to eat at each meal. I really can't eat a meal for breakfast, so I've taken to eating a protein bar, which is between 13 & 15 grams of protein per bar. Only problem is that it has around 22 grams of carbohydrates per bar too. So I have to be really careful the rest of the day about my carb intake.

I am back to having problems stomaching my protein shakes. I am forcing myself to drink them, but it's hard. Yesterday I made my shake really strong with hot water and after it was all shaken up I poured it over ice to dilute it a bit. I didn't get it all in during the day, so I am drinking it again now. There has to be something easier out there.

I also sometimes forget to take my multivitamins and don't always get all my calcium in. I get most of the calcium most days. However, I try to take the multivitamins at night, but have to wait 2 hours from the last calcium dose. Sometimes I just fall asleep before I get to them I'm so tired. I've tried taking them in the morning when I get my daughter off to school because I go back to sleep for a couple of hours, but I just am not really able to stomach much first thing in the am. I will get it though....eventually.

I know that most days I'm not getting 64 ounces of fluid in. I sip on my protein shake all day long adding ice to it throughout the day, so maybe I am getting it all in. However, I think that some days I'm closer to 48 ounce than 64. I have not gotten dehydrated yet, so maybe I'm ok.

As far as the food goes, I'm just tired of making the same thing all the time. Any ideas of easy recipes for high protein foods?

I hope I can reach my goal of a size 14 by Christmas. Just seems that it's not going to happen because my weight loss has slowed so much. BTW I'm a size 18 now. I also wanted to get into a gym soon, but money has been so tight that I can't afford it yet. Probably won't be able to until October 1 or so, which sucks.

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Sep 08, 2009

I am getting so frustrated. I have maybe lost about 3 pounds in the last 3 weeks. However, there are days that the scale goes up a pound or two and then other days that it goes back down. I haven't done anything that I shouldn't. I am trying really hard to follow the meal plans, but mostly eating protein foods. But I still think I've hit a plateau. HELP!!!!!!

I'm walking, I'm drinking my protein shakes and eating protein bars to help get in all the needed protein, and eating meals like I should but with mostly protein. I have added a little bit of veggies and fruits back into my diet and managed to lose about 3 pounds, but it doesn't stay off. For example, I weighed myself the other day (Saturday), then again Sunday and it said 206.8. Great right, but then I weighed myself today and it says 209 again. WTF!?!?!? It could possibly be that I am wearing pants today with my PJ's and Sunday I wasn't, but I don't think my pants weigh 3 pounds.

I am being good about not eating things I shouldn't and still having problems. My surgeon's nurse said to call the dietitian, but I don't think that they will be able to help me. Can someone give me some advice.
