"I first met Dr. Abkin some three years ago when I attended a seminar with my neighbor. My first impression -- this guy is confident and straightforward. He's approachable. I didn't pursue surgery back in 2004 as my insurance did not cover it. Fast forward to 2008....new insurance company covered WLS but I had to go in network with in network surgeon. My lucky day.. Dr. Abkin was in network.

update 6/2010 He's a great surgeon, but at 2 years out, it's clear to me that he is only concerned about the surgical aspects of the journey. He didn't really want to discuss non surgical issues (psych stuff) with me. He made sure I had appt with the psych but did not have much else to say.
