I know why my weight loss is at a crawl. But I can't seem to figure out what to do to make my work and this new way of eating work. I just about want to cry because I feel like I'm going to fail. I don't want to have to change jobs and give up what I love to do, the nurse case manager asked if I'd be willing to.. I'd be miserable working any where else. I'm just whining today is all. I work four days in a row and the scales don't move because I eat very little and drink even less. On my days off is when I drop a few pounds.

5 months post op

Feb 20, 2008

I made it to five months post op and I'm still sane.. Well as sane as possible.. hehehe.. I weighed in at 222 lbs.. (a loss of 8 lbs during the last month, not so shabby since I spent 3 of the 4 weeks on a plateau) Of course the doctor wanted below 200 on my six month check up and No way in hell I'm going to accomplish that.. And what they said was true. You plateau at 4 months and it drives you absolutly insane. Your hair does fall out too... I can't imagine how much would fall out if I didn't use the protien shakes... I find every week my stomach tolerates something different. What it tolerated last week it will not tolerated this week. Hell it changes from day to day.. I'm learning variety keeps all this tolerable and enjoyable on most days. It's nice to not have your life centered around food. I don't get up thinking about what I'm going to buy to eat today.
I only have two more days of the Johnson and Johnson study (the one where they are trying to figure out how this surgery cures diabeties, I go and sit in a chair for five hours and they draw blood in certain intervals, I figured as a nurse I couldn't with a clear consious say no I won't do it, since I'm part of the "Controled group" because I didn't have diabetes)
I'll take pictures this weekend as I still have two more days to work this week. Anyhoo off to exercise then get in the shower then to work I go

Four months post op

Jan 18, 2008

Its hard to believe that it has been four short months since surgery. Surgery seems like forever ago.. The discomfort and pain is a distant memory...

As of this morning my wt is 230 lbs. that's a loss of 86 lbs. Seems so surreal. Everyone saying hey skinny while I privatley say to myself yeah right I'm still big as a house. I know I'm smaller and I feel better, but I don't see myself as skinny. Not by the farthest stretch of the imagination..

So what have I learned in my four months... Two protien drinks a day and protien first and always measure your food until you actually can feel the fullnest of eating... I make that mistake I really don't "feel full", but one bite too many and the acid that comes up in your throat and makes you instantly hoarse sure lets ya know.

I added a new picture.. I take one every month, generally on the 19th but I did mine yesterday and put it in my gallery.

I wish I had some earth shattering advice or wisdom to pass on but I don't each day brings a new lesson....

Nov 29, 2007

I'm down 60 lbs. So I'm dying my hair. Not sure why seeing 255 on the scales gave me a boast, probable because I hadn't seen a number that low in a long time.. Bought a size smaller pair of underwear so that's two sizes since surgery. The numbers on the scale are just an obsession that comes from a life time of dieting. But actually fitting into smaller clothes makes you want to do a happy dance. I do wish that I didn't have to work 6 days a week to pay for all of the medical bills and still afford christmas. Cuz I sure is tired Maw. LOL I didn't have to worry about thanksgiving day cuz I had to work.
Still don't feel like eating most of the time and have to make myself eat. I have to get a prescription for the acid thats always up in my throat on my 3 month check up. Sometimes its bad enough for long enough that I lose my voice, and it's not that I'm eating too much it does it even when I haven't eaten all night at work. I'm using otc chewable pepcid and it helps some..
Okay I'm done with the sensless ramblings.......
I've got to go finish dying my hair...
