I love my RNY! I feel 100%! I sometimes don't even know I have had this suregery until I look at my 5 little incisions. This is so great. Today I am down 57 pounds and I feel and look good. I have been working out consistently 3 days/week for the last 4 weeks. I have been doing cardio and resistence training. I eat such a small amount and I am not even hungry. I try to focus on eating protein and veggies. I have had no sweets and no bread. I am amazed at what my body is doing. I have my 3 month checkup with Leport on 11/6/08. I hope to have lost 60 pounds by then.... I have found myself weighing in every day, sometimes twice a day. I had to put things in perspective and tell myself that I am doing a great job and that there was NO time prior to this surgery that I could have ever lost 67 pounds in 11 weeks. This really eased my mind that I was not losing fast enough and has made this journey alot easier. I am not so very hard on myself. Even when I have hit a stall, it's still o.k.
I have yet to take pictures of my progress... I keep coming across BEFORE pictures and they are horrendous! I cannot believe I let myself get to the point I was. I even thought I was cute then....

I made it!
Aug 21, 2008
Surgery was scheduled on 8/6/2008 @ 9:30am. My mom and I arrived at the hospital at 6:00am. I was called into the back at about 7:40am for prep. A nurse asked a million and 1 questions then started my IV. Dr. Leport came in and reviewed my chart and asked if I was ready. I told him yes and he stated he would see my in the operating room. The anestioliogist (S/P) came in and informed me of what his role would be then a nurse came in with some Happy Juice and away I went at 9:40am. All I remember in the operating room was it was FREEZING!!!!!!! I was told to move over to a little baby table (it was sooo small). Oh, Madonna was being played in the operating room too! That's all I remember until I woke up in the recovery room. I don't remember being in alot of pain. I had that push button thing and I didn't use it very much. My cousin and mom told me that when it was time to be moved to my room, I asked to nurse could I walk. My family said I walked to my new room! I asked them if my eyes were open cause I don't remember any of that! From there, I was poked and proded for 2 days! I did not sleep well in that bed so I kept getting up to walk. I know the nurses assistant was prpbably bothered with me cause after I got up to walk they needed to but my blood clot prevention shoes back on. I will say this, after the 2nd day, I had the WORSE gas pain EVER! I kept getting up to walk to try to pass it but it just wouldn't. The gas pain was worse than the surgery pain. ( I quit taking the morphine cause it didn't work. They gave me a little pill). I was in the hospital until Friday afternoon. I went to stay with my parents and they were really helpful with my daughter so my recovery was pretty easy. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
2 days left!

1-1

Yesttrday I went to my 1-1 with Dr. Leport. I was impressed and although he isn't much of talker, he was very forward regarding the risks and the benefits of this surgery. He answered ALL my questions and was very informative. I will be doing the liquid Optifast for 2 weeks prior to surgery to give myself a head start and to reduce the size of my liver. It's really starting to feel real! I'm still pretty nervous but I'm ready!
