Another day.....

Jan 18, 2011

Not much to report.  I have only lost 2 lbs in 5 days.  Not sure why it is so slow since I am getting my protein and making sure my calories are low.  My water intake is good too.  I think I have the vitamin issues worked out and I have been getting out and walking.  I am getting into some of my smaller clothes and can fit into things that I haven't been able to wear.  That has been fun to shop in my own closet.

Next week I go to Memphis where our Corporate office resides.  That will be interesting.  I think I am ready to travel.  I have things that I know I can eat and I feel comfortable going to restaurants now.  Last Friday the DH and I took our youngest out to Red Lobster.  It was great!  I was able to eat some grilled fish and the hubby had some crab -- it was probably the cheapest meal I have ever had there since we didn't get appetizers, drinks or dessert!  Then on Sunday it was my brother in law's birthday so the whole family went to Shoguns.  I didn't have to order a thing.  I just ate off the hubby's plate - scallops.  I didn't feel too deprived either.  Later when everyone was eating chocolate cake, I was ok.  It smelled good but it's not worth feeling sick over.

I am starting to realize that hunger is relative --- it's mainly mind hunger and mine is beginning to ease off a little bit.  As a matter of fact, it is almost a chore to eat and I almost would rather have a shake and get meal time over with ---- how is that for crazy?  A couple of weeks ago I was dying to have food.  With my doctors program, we are not suppose to supplement meals with protein shakes and we are only allowed to have three meals and no snacking at all.  He is very strict.  I don't break the rules too often since I figure he knows best --- he does have to report his results and he's been doing this for years, however, there are times when a shake just does the trick and I can get 30 grams of protein.

The Costco shakes are the best!  Finally went and got some and was glad I did.  I have also tried the vegetarian stuff, Morning Star --- the sausages and veggie burger is on our approved list.  I really like having the "sausage" with an egg in the morning.  Since my taste buds are super sensitive, I do not notice a difference between that and real sausage.  I think if I ate real sausage it would be too spicy and have too much flavor for me.

The DH is doing well.  He was hired on at the nursing home where he has been doing his training.  It's only two days a week but he's going to nursing school so it really fits in well with our schedule.  I am just glad he'll be doing something useful with  this job and bringing home a little extra cash.  That always helps!  We are talking about moving once the big kids graduate and he will just be getting out of school.  We want to move out West to Oregon or Washington.  I love California but it's too expensive.  I think that will really be our fresh start for us.  At least it gives me something to day dream about....

Better go!  God Bless you!
