John Husted

"I am writing this review because I am appalled at how one reviewer was attacked when she mentioned her experience with Dr. Husted was bad. Her integrity was questioned due to bad grammar. Although I was not a patient of Dr. Husted, my late husband, Harry Robinson, was. He was the first patient to die in Somerset, KY. I will say Dr. Husted was extremely nice and seemed to have great bedside manners, but when my husband was airlifted from a hospital in Atlanta, GA back to Somerset, KY because no one could figure out what happened during his surgery with Dr. Husted I began to get nervous. Dr. Husted continued to tell me my husband was getting better only to find out he wasn’t. One of the doctors on my husband’s medical team sat me down and basically indicated he was unsure why Dr. Husted was giving me false hope because Harry was an extremely sick man and only had a 5% chance of living after having DS surgery the previous week. Infection was leaking inside his body and all his major organs were beginning to shut down. After weeks of being in a coma, he finally succumbed to his infections and all his organs were no longer vital. I couldn’t talk about the traumatic experience without being traumatized for years. So just imagine how it made me feel when I received a letter from a lawyer indicating that my husband’s medical records were being studied and utilized as evidence in a malpractice lawsuit for several people in Somerset, KY that had either life threatening or life ending experiences with Dr. Husted as well. Some of the information provided to me was shocking. I never pursued a malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Husted because going through what I went through the last three weeks of my late husband’s life again would have been unbearable! Also, we knew there could be complications but in your early 30’s you aren’t thinking your surgery would end in death."

Clarence R. Hixon

"My initial consult with Dr. Hixon went well. He was extremely informative and even drew pictures to show me what he would actually be doing when performing the surgery. He went over different revision surgery options and explained why he thought that the fobi would be best for me. I explained to him my concerns about regaining weight due to the fact that I am having a revision and he gave me step by step details as to what he would be doing different from the initial surgeon. I am extremely confident in my choice of surgeon and look forward to having my RNY revision on 6/01/09."
