Katherine, I am so happy to hear that you are home and doing well. I understand the emotional part of post-op, I was fine in the hospital, but very weepy and short fused for a few days once I was home. And I can not agree more about Dr. Rawlins he is so caring and an awesome surgeon. Get lots of rest and let us know how you are doing~All the best~KimberlyKatherine S. 20 years, 4 months ago
I just got home from the hospital. I'm doing well. A little weepy and emotional. Glad to be home. In case your wondering what happened to the updates from Sharon. Her husband, LeRoy, my son-like nephew was sledding with his three young sons when he hit a post and shattered his right femur. We are so proud of the boys. The eight year old ran for help, called 911 then called his Mom to come and get them. The six year old offered his coat to his dad so he wouldn't get cold and he and the four year old gave him comfort and encouragement while waiting for the resue crew. They handled the emergency with poise and clear thinking that would be the envy of many adults. Just had to take a minute to brag on my super grandchildren. (Two year old sister was home with Mom). So Leroy has been in the hospital one floor up from me. Suddenly Sharon has more than a full plate. Your prayers for them would be appreciated. I'll give a more detailed update later. I'm going to go to bed this has been an exhausting day.Carolyn B. 20 years, 4 months ago
Hi, Katherine. I hope by now your fever is gone and you are feeling better. I live in Houston now but lived in Spokane for over 20 years. My grown children are still there. I will be praying for your swift recovery. I have my surgery on the 7th. I can hardly wait. Blessings, Carolyn.Katherine S. 20 years, 4 months ago
This is Sharon here, (Kate's "angel"), updating her progress. Snuggled deep within a pile of white linen, all we could see was Kate's smiling face and her hand spooning jello from a bowl when we walked in yesterday. This was a good sign and a bad sign -- good that she is eating; bad because she is running a fever that they're having a hard time getting down. She is sleeping a lot because of the pain medication. Her resolve is not diminished one ounce, though, as she increased the length of her two walks she took, thus increasing her endurance. And we all shared a giggle over her progress in making vitally important bodily functions happen. LOL. --Sharon, daughter-in-lawKatherine S. 20 years, 4 months ago
We visited Kate this evening around 6:30. She was in good spirits. She sprinted three laps around the halls today; she is feeling "full" (imagine... she hasn't eaten in four days!); and her pain management is excellent (as she has a strong thumb on the little black button connected to her bed -- I'm experiencing a bit of envy here on this one). Her appearance was naturally fresh and beautiful, as though she had just finished her beauty routine minutes before we arrived. Kate's determined resolve was apparent during our visit. We are so proud of her.K J. 20 years, 4 months ago

Kate's doctor replied, "She did BETTER than okay," when her husband asked if she did okay in surgery. She was still coming out from under the effects of the anasthegia when I left the hospital at 1:15pm. All is well... SharonCathy W. 20 years, 4 months ago
