Whatch out for those SF candies when you are post op. I tried the Hershey's, Reeses & many others & they cause gas like you would not believe. 3 hrs after eating just one I was still curled up in pain.

Leigh Ann, while I'm not a Lap Bander, I'd like to offer to be your angel. I started at almost exactly your size and it sounds like we have career and children in common. Hi Leigh Ann: I just noticed your post too. I can see you got some answers. As the others said, the doc will go over surgery, probably stressing the cons more than the pros, just to make sure you know what you're getting yourself in for. Let us know what happens. Best of luck to you in your journey. I'm still pre-op, 55 days and a wakeup - seems like forever!!

Leigh, Try not to stress yourself out. Your dr will just be going over what to expect and what wls is. He /she will give you a list of test to get done. These test are only for your own good. and also it's the time to ask questions that you have. Other words he will more less direct you towards getting a approval for wls. You'll see, don't worry yourself. hugs

Leigh Ann Sorry that you are down I would have been happy to respond to your question had I seen it posted earlier. I don't know what your Dr. is like but on my 1st visit with the surgeon it was just informative, getting information about what to expect and what he would actually be doing to me. Basically a time for me to ask any questions I had. It is always good to go prepared with a list of questions... such as 1)how long will the surgery take? 2)how long will I be in the hospital? 3)what kind of bypass are you going to do? (as there are several.) 4) what is your success rate? 5.) complications? 6.) deaths? (from pt. he has done the surgery on) sorry if to morbid. But I know I wanted to know after all my life is in his hands. anything you can think of to ask that you might want to know prior to surgery. hang in there and soon this will be all in the pass and your new life will begin. Leigh Ann... Sorry I missed your question earlier. Just got home from having the surgery (Today!) so wasn't on the board long. Anyway, at my first consult, the doctor just asked me a bunch of questions about my health history, explained the surgery, and then I took a turn and asked my questions. Leigh Ann~ In my consult the surgeon just discussed with me the procedure, asked me a bunch of questions and asked if I had any for him. I did have a few written down because I would have never remembered them by the time I got there. He took my medical history into consideration and said I would be good candidate for surgery.
